Blinken acknowledges disagreements within State Department on Israel-Hamas war in email to staff

Secretary of State Antony Blinken acknowledged disagreements within the State Department over the Biden administration’s approach to the Israel-Hamas war in an email to staff Monday.

His message to personnel, sent on the heels of his recent travels, comes amid growing anger and dissent not only from staff at the State Department but within the broader Biden administration. CNN reported last week that hundreds of personnel at the US Agency for International Development signed an open letter calling for a ceasefire, and there are reports of a “dissent memo” inside the State Department.

“I know that for many of you, the suffering caused by this crisis is taking a profound personal toll,” Blinken wrote in his email Monday, which was seen by CNN. “The anguish that comes with seeing the daily images of babies, children, elderly people, women, and other civilians suffering in this crisis is wrenching. I feel it myself.”

As CNN has reported, some of the fiercest backlash has come from inside the State Department, including an official who publicly resigned from the agency last month over the Biden administration’s approach to the conflict. Elsewhere in the administration, officials have quietly fumed as the civilian death toll mounts.

The top US diplomat noted in the message that “some people in the Department may disagree with approaches we are taking or have views on what we can do better.”

“We’ve organized forums in Washington to hear from you, and urged managers and teams to have candid discussions at posts around the world precisely so we can hear your feedback and ideas. I’ve asked our senior leadership to keep doing that,” Blinken wrote.

“We’re listening: what you share is informing our policy and our messages,” he said.

They need to be fired. It’s insubordination.

Lots of anti-semites in the State Department.

So why are we tolerating that?

I hear lots of calls for a ceasefire from our government, few for a return of the hostages.

Return of the hostages would allow Israel time to more selectively target terrorists.

“hundreds of personnel at the US Agency for International Development”

Every one of them would surely want hostage relatives to be freed at once.

Holding hostages is a war crime.

“Lots of anti-semites in the State Department.“

Are they antisemites?
I have always used a principle that when logical people make really illogical judgements, and refuse to move position in the face of overwhelming evidence, lots of money is involved.

HAMAS actions, invading a sovereign nation, that has no protagonists on the GAZA strip, and doing such acts is indefensible. They deserve to be destroyed. Asking for a ceasefire to protect the terrorists and the supporters is silly.

I wonder if the State department employees are getting much kickback money.

The deep state essentially controls the Federal government infrastructure and essentially rules and governs as they see fit despite their ostensible political bosses. Usually they are in line with the Democrat Party. Neither Bush nor Trump were able to control these people. As an example during the Trump Administration the Pentagon refused to implement Trump’s order to withdraw troops from Syria and a Coast Guard Admiral refused to obey an order banning trans genders. There were no disciplinary actions.

As far as I am concerned, the way The State Department handled the Afghanistan Withdrawal, it has no say on how Israel handles Hamas.

Yes.

The very first time I heard of the permanent swamp insider elites was about “the State Department hates Jews and no matter what party wins they still hate Jews.” Late 1970s. Proven again and again.

Then I learned of the whole Swamp power over all topics of policy and the way no one can survive standing up to the corruption.

So many things change (which I usually hate to have happen) but this one stays constant.
