Certainly parents are culpable in this, as well as the doctors. A smart parent does not allow their child access to social media. At least not without constant surveillance.
Some of these parents encourage their children to “question their gender”. It gives mothers, in particular, an appearance of being distinguished - “as the parent of a trans child ...” If you look at documentaries about trans children, you will see what I mean. The preening, narcissistic, attention-seeking mother is nearly always there.
