I think that Putin has made clear on pain of the use of nukes and escalating to WWIII that that is not going to happen. America got rich using seignorage in the petro dollar system to make profits making stuff and making the rest of the world pay for it. That has about run its course because we are shafting not only American workers but workers all over "our" global economic empire on which we have enriched ourselves. It's not entirely unlike the end of the Raj and collapse of the British Empire. Economic conditions among average people in Britain were not particularly great, socialsim started to get the upper hand and there was no support for military adventures to sustain and Empire from which few were benefitting.
