HONG KONG/SHANGHAI -- China's former Premier Li Keqiang died of a heart attack in the early hours of Friday, according to state media. He was 68.

Li suffered heart failure on Thursday evening while vacationing in Shanghai and passed away just after midnight, CCTV reported. He had served as premier for a decade, from 2013 until his retirement this year.

A year ago, in October 2022, he stepped down from the all-powerful Politburo Standing Committee. He took his final bow as premier in March, when his parting comments were scrutinized for signs of differences with the increasingly dominant president.

Something like that.

Xi purging anyone who could possibly threaten his power.

Classic paranoid dictator.

I’m sure it’s a coincidence. Everything in China is just an accident.

They still have an estimated population of 1,425,671,352 people at mid year 2023. China population is equivalent to 17.72% of the total world population.

So they can lose one old Commie and get by.

An official CCP spokesman said Li Keqiang would not stop eating Uncle Ben’s Converted Enriched Rice. The eating of this rice was so offensive to the Chinese government he was censured heavily for it. He ignored his rebuke and ate so much of it, that he developed coronary artery disease (CAD) which caused his heart attack and death.

You know, in my opinion - if it wasn't for Xi Jinping and his Mao-fixation, then China would have grown "under the radar" and really become a threat to the USA

it had a stellar bureaucratic technocracy with leaders revolving every 5 to 10 years and it was not ticking off the USA nor its neighbors. And Taiwan was getting more and more integrated economically and culturally with the mainland

Then came Xi and his 7 dashed line and his hardball with the "loans" given to China's potential vassal states and then his hardening stance against Taiwan squandered all of that away.
