Being “poor” is not a sign of honesty. Honesty is a sign of honesty.
But he does seem to have shunned the traditional, more then slightly shady, ways that most congresscritters choose to enrich themselves.
It has always puzzled me how people can go into government in debt and in less then a decade become multimillionaires.
But being rich when you’ve spent most of your adult life as a public servant is a tip-off that you might be dishonest.
Being poor is not a sign of honesty but going from middle class to millionaire on a 175k salary is a sure sign of corruption. That is the path for the majority of congressmen.

In Washington, DC, I disagree... being poor is a sign of at least relative honesty (unless he he’s really good at immediately spending all of the ill-gotten gains).
