UC Berkeley Offers Extra Credit to Protest Against Israel

Want to get extra credit in your Asian Studies class?

It’s easy enough: hate Israel enough to protest its existence. “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” Boom. Get a better grade!

No, I am not kidding. Gavin Newsom, maybe you should come home from China and clean up your home state.

.@UCBerkeley is offering extra credit points to students for taking part in an anti-Israel protest.

You can’t make this s**t up.

There are so many things wrong with this, most of which are self-evident. A state university that promotes propaganda that supports terrorism and genocide is bad enough. The university is actually incentivizing it by promising better grades (and thus better job prospects).

Then there is the issue of the state university encouraging students to lobby their state legislators to support Hamas terror. Taxpayers are shelling out big bucks to encourage students to lobby for terrorists.

Nice.

This shouldn’t surprise us, as the instructor is a graduate student in Grievance Studies…I mean Ethnic Studies. Her whole shtick is pushing Critical Theory. Which is pretty much the whole shtick of universities these days. Here is her profile.

While this is happening in California, Governor Ron DeSantis is moving in the opposite direction.

Breaking: Gov. @RonDeSantis directed the chancellor of the State University System of Florida to deactivate the "Students for Justice in Palestine" group after it was revealed they sent out a "toolkit" inviting members to aid Hamas in their Operation Al-Aqsa Flood terrorist… pic.twitter.com/bMmoI2ZKt1

Students for Justice in Palestine has been in the news lately for obvious reasons: they have been adjuncts to Hamas here in the United States–not just in spirit, but they declare it themselves.

alt alt

“As the Palestinian student movement, we have an unshakeable responsibility to join the call for mass mobilization.” This is said in the context of praising the “martyrs” and the specific operation that led to the mass slaughter of civilians. There is no ambiguity.

Florida saw it that way too, and it is illegal to provide support for terrorists.

alt alt

This is a tale of two states. One, California, which is actively rewarding students for calling for the genocide of an entire people, and another, Florida, which punishes students for breaking the law in doing so.

I would have a problem with Florida universities kicking out SJP if it were just vocal in supporting “justice” for Palestinians. I might disagree with their analysis of the situation and who is most responsible for the plight of Palestinians. But I have no trouble at all decertifying a group as legitimate when it openly supports terrorists and calls for the elimination of an entire state and implicitly its people.

SJP specifically identifies itself as committed to the tactics of Hamas: they are “PART of this movement.”

Supporting the rape, murder, and kidnapping of innocents and calling for mass mobilization to further the “struggle” is a clear violation of both the law, and as importantly the rules of the Florida academic standards.

If you read the statement of the Chancellor carefully you will note that the students are invited to create new groups supporting Palestinians that do not actively support terrorist activity, so there is no suppression of legal speech–as it should be.

The difference between a conservative-run state and one governed by liberals couldn’t be more stark.

Liberals are giving incentives to support terrorists, while conservatives are cracking down to the extent that is legal and appropriate.

I know which side I choose to be on.

Nothing new.

From 2021: Teacher who hung BLM flag outside class offered extra credit for activism, DCPS investigation finds.

I'm sure they began doing this in the 1960s.

DeSantis doesn’t put up with a lot of crap - he’s our Best. Governor. Ever.

And DeSantis understands where the line is between ‘free speech’ and ‘support for terrorists’. If liberals in our state don’t like his calls, they can move to California.

Don’t underestimate the ultra crazy leftist democrats

They have figured out how to take control of most universities, especially the most prestigious

They have managed to turn them into hot beds of Leftist/globalist ideology and indoctrinate students with extreme leftist dogma

They have figured out a way to get working conservatives to pay off the college loans for students being converted into unthinking America hating communists and terrorist sympathizers

Nothing new: During the Spring Semester 1953 at the University of California there were scores of students gathering and protesting the Rosenburg sentences and protesting their innocence. They were not, however, given extra credit for attending.

Do you have to be mentally defective to live in CA? Or morally bankrupt? Seems to be true. This is so sick. Why isn’t this institution being defunded?
