Why should the US “destroy” Iran?
First off, let’s assume the days of the old school neoGoons are gone, and we don’t illicit notions of ‘regime change’ but following up with Nation Building and Forever Wars, although you should probably never assume neocons are gone. Even still, Iran has a lot of good people in it, educated, and from what I understand, not overly radicalist like their leadership has been for the last 40+ years.
So without completely embracing non-interventionalism, all you really need to do is target their nuclear weapons production and assets, and perhaps a few more precision strikes that will assist any grassroots populist coup. But even these goals are much easier said than done and not without their own unintended consequences.

The wiki for MacGregor says he is a West Point graduate. The US service academies are harder to qualify than Ivy League. Not many know that. He also has a PhD in International Relations from Univ of Virginia. That’s not a diploma mill.
It also says he appeared on RT and FoxNews. I suspect he is not a paid employee of either. Appearing need not even be paid.
