It’s worth studying the events leading up to the French Revolution. Many parallels to things today.

“that dictators and terrorists will not relent until they pay a price for their aggression.

What a load. MSM is pushing the “Brave Joe is standing strong with Israel” BS because that what the polling data dictates. Behind the curtains Biden, Obongo, The UN and the EU are getting ready to kneecap them.

Biden’s Oval Office address centered on the “need” for
American foreign aid tax dollars to Ukraine and Israel.

Here’s why they DONT need it:

About $113.1 billion in tax dollars were authorized in 2022 for Ukraine, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. Most of it–about $67.1 billion–was defense-related. The other $46 billion included:
<><>$26.9 billion for economic support;
<><>$7.9 billion for international disaster assistance;
<><>$6.6 billion in assistance for refugees;
<><>$1.5 billion for assistance for Europe, Eurasia and Central Asia;
<><>plus $3.1 billion for other non-defense spending.

US tax dollars helped Ukraine
<><>pay the salaries of 618,000 educators, 517,000 health workers, and 56,500 first responders
<><>helped sustain critical healthcare services,
<><>helped meet pension responsibilities for 9.8 million people,
<><>assisted 1.3 million internally displaced persons,
<><>provided housing assistance to 4.1 million people,
<><>provided social assistance to 240,000 low-income families
<><>and helped subsidize 480,000 persons with disabilities.

Israel’s defense budget ALONE is about $25 billion per year.....nearly as large as the entire GDP of Gaza, according to the CIA World Factbook. So what passes for an economy in shambles in Gaza is less than 5% the size of Israels booming, technologically advanced, and robust $550 billion national economy.

Israel is an economic and military Goliath relative to the Gaza/Hamas terrorist Tom Thumbs. They do not need any virtue signaling from Biden but he is one of a slew of obeisant US politicians each trying to outdo the other in showing fealty to a foreign country.

Why do we have to go into debt for these money grubbing foreign billionaires?
Monies generations not yet born are saddled with.
Why cant they stand on their own two feet?
Why cant they do their own borrowing?
Why cant they finance their own security?

“The indispensable nation” was the phrase Madeleine Albright used to justify our meddling in Balkan affairs (supposedly, she got the phrase from Sidney Blumenthal). Those days, when we were the only superpower and claiming to bring freedom and democracy to the world, are over. We aren’t the almighty sole superpower anymore, and our motives for acting in the world are more questionable and harder to go along with. So to that extent, the author is right.

Does Joe Biden “believe [that we are the indispensable nation] to the marrow of his bones”? Biden gets us involved in troubles all around the world. He throws money around the world like a drunken sailor. He goes around screaming, “We’re the United States of America! We can do anything if we put our mind to it!” I don’t know what he “believes” but he has certainly picked up the rhetoric and does seem to take it for granted.

FTA-—Biden rhetorically asked, “Why does this matter to America?” and answered
that dictators and terrorists will not relent until they pay a price for their aggression.

But increasingly, Americans are answering, “It shouldn’t matter to us.”
<><>Only 65% think the US should lead in world affairs, down from 79% two decades ago.
<><>Nearly one-third of Democrats think the US is giving too much support to Israel,
<><>more than half of Republicans oppose sending more weapons to Ukraine.
<><>The House Speaker’s fight may delay or derail Biden’s $100B aid request.
<><>A Trump presidency will almost certainly accelerate American disengagement.
<><>relations with foreign countries could depend on whether their leaders are election-deniers —
<><>Many resent that Netanyahu rushed to suckup to Biden on his “2020 victory.”

Still, House Republicans, MAGA America-Firsters, and anti-Israel Democrats may not bear as much responsibility for rising American isolationism as the simple passage of time.

In the first half of the 20th century, the U.S. twice sent millions of soldiers overseas to fight and die in world wars. For 50 years after the end of World War II, nine Democratic and Republican presidents agreed that America’s national security depended on “international engagement.”

Eighty one year old Biden, who began his political career during the Cold War, is a throwback to those presidents.

Americans may be more likely to recall the debacles of Vietnam, Biden’s colossal Afghanistan pullout flop, rather than World War II........to America Firsters, it’s a “European problem.”

Simple solution; Draft Trump as Speaker for 100 days, in the interim, impeach Biden and Harris. Then, Trump would be President and can use his dynamic genius to save America.

Biden’s $106B package is in big trouble in the Senate

Even some GOP supporters of the “four priorities” —
Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan and the Southern border —
are uncharacteristically pessimistic.

Even before it hits the leaderless House, Senate GOP divisions are threatening to sink the proposal — or dramatically reshape it. Republicans are split over whether to link Israel and Ukraine aid, with many also pushing for big border policy changes and blanching at the price tag.

Even some GOP supporters of the efforts’ four priorities — Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan and the Southern border — are uncharacteristically pessimistic after the party’s first discussion about the legislation at Tuesday’s lunch.

“The package that the White House sent over really is dead,” said Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD). “The appropriators in the Senate can begin by basically starting over.”

Democrats hold the keys to the Senate, but they’ll need nine or more Republican votes to get anything through the chamber. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell stumped over the weekend for a generous aid package but said his members have “passion” for stronger border security: “And we’re going to make other changes as well.”

The Senate Appropriations Committee will hold a hearing on the request in a week, and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer wants to move urgently. But the Nov. 17 government funding deadline and a leaderless House create a time crunch for the Senate.

There’s also little clarity into what the Senate’s 60-vote threshold can bear. Beyond the specifics of the $106 billion supplemental bill, Republicans are debating the philosophical concept of marrying Israel aid with the ongoing funding for Ukraine’s defense.

Sending Ukraine more aid is still divisive in the GOP, and some Republicans want the Senate to consider Israel aid on its own.

“They should be separated out,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said Tuesday. “The Israel component has almost overwhelming support, and we can get there very quickly. I just think, tactically, it’s just a better approach.”

On the other hand, Senate Armed Services ranking member Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) said he “absolutely” supports linking the two. He conceded the conference is “split” on the issue but predicted a “solid majority in the House and Senate” could support the concept.

“I want the whole package to go forward,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said. “Those are four national security issues, and we should deal with them as a unit.”

Still, the complexity of such a large piece of legislation could be its undoing. Humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip will be “problematic” for the GOP, said Senate Minority Whip John Thune (R-SD). And Republicans want border policy changes in addition to funding requests from the administration.

This is “going to have to deal with some policy changes on the border to change the status quo, which this does not,” Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) said.

A number of Senate Republican leaders and McConnell allies, including Thune, are non-committal about keeping the package comprehensive. Asked whether the issues can remain lumped together, Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va) said the conference will discuss “what strategy is best,” while Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) said “we’ll have a discussion” about it.

On the Israel-Ukraine combo, Cornyn said he’d “be happy to vote on them individually,” while Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.) said there’s still a need to “take a look at what’s been sent over.”

Yet McConnell was steadfast in his approach when facing reporters after the party lunch.

“Speaking for myself, I do think it needs to be comprehensive,” McConnell said at his weekly press conference. “It needs to deal with all of these, because they’re all interrelated.”
