More than 19,000 city employees take home more than $150,000 annually

Start cutting total number of employees

San Jose has only 6000 employees

Then start reducing wages.

You can show some leadership mayor.

Earning about $500,000 per year, London is the highest paid government executive in America, raking in $100k more than the President of the USA

“But let’s cut police protection instead.”

Might as well cut police budget...they don’t do anything anyhow because they are forbidden.

Re:

That was my read also. 'Slashing' a 14.6 Billion dollar budget down to 14.4 Billion dollars, seems more like a rearrangement of the chairs on the deck of the Titanic, rather than taking the necessary actions. Painful as they might be.

They’re cutting police budgets? That’ll do great for tourism. Defecating on a SanFran sidewalk before the city got too dangerous was on my bucket list.... /s.

Wouldn’t they be better off with some sort of quasi bankruptcy and a federal judge running the place?

One might think so. But we federal taxpayers would then even more likely end up bailing out the socialist's attempted takeover. In such event, few if any would learn the lesson and even more would vote for D's.

From 2015. We know.

https://www.kqed.org/news/10573411/report-african-american-adults-seven-times-as-likely-as-whites-to-be-arrested-in-san-francisco

“Speaking at a June 23 news conference, San Francisco Public Defender Jeff Adachi described it as “a damning report” and called for the disparities to be addressed.

“You would think that in San Francisco, where we have a very progressive reputation, that our treatment, particularly of people of color, would be much better but ... it’s actually much worse than other parts of the state,” Adachi said.”

Whew. What a relief. I was afraid they would make budget cuts to really important things.

As usual, during any kind of ‘crisis’ involving $$$, the democRATS cut police, fire, etc. There are so many other areas they could first reduce, but noooooo. Also, they have chased out many of the people who make good $$$. Those with means definitely mean to leave. There is a growing list of companies, retail and others, that have left. The tallest building in San Francisco is the Salesforce Tower. The leader of Salesforce just announced they will not have their annual convention in San Francisco due to the crime, homeless, drugs, mental health, etc. There are dozens of Smash & Grab warning signs all over San Francisco. The signs warn residents and tourists about leaving anything in the car. The residents who pay no taxes, criminals, hang out to ‘smash & grab’ whatever they can. A recent visiting businessman had a meeting scheduled to discuss opening a jewelry shop in San Francisco. He had to maneuver between discarded hypodermic needles. Let’s just say that he won’t be investing in San Francisco any time soon.

The radical cuts are embarrassing since San/Fran’s first mayor of color is now forced to tear up her record-breaking $14.6 billion annual budget she signed off on, just three months ago.

$14.6 billion annual budget. A couple decades ago the city budget was about $1 billion. Very bloated budget, after hefty increases in taxes and forced fees. And the city can't take care of what they used to be able to do.

I am visiting family in SF - yesterday there was a raving mad man down near a kid’s beach I walk my dogs - families were having picnics, kids were playing in the sand and people strolling along the walkways - ...

My daughter and granddaughter used to volunteer to pick up debris on the beach in SF... until they started finding hypodermic needles and my daughter stopped volunteering for those cleanups. My wife and I had volunteered in past decades to clean up parts of GG Park in SF; we wouldn't dare to that now. San Franciscans now go down the peninsula to shop in suburbs rather than shop in their own city. It's gotten real bad under Mayor London Breed who let it go to hell.

Democrat Breed’s $14.6 billion annual budget contrasts
w/ couple decades ago city budget of about $1 billion.

Breed bloated the budget.....none for police.....by putting in hefty
tax increases on the working class, and then inventing forced fees.

And dumbo Breed still can’t take care of what they used to be able to do.

San Francisco has destroyed its brand. Before, it was a place where financial firms had to be and tourists wanted to be. Now, what’s the attraction to either group?

I have the solution for the “institutional racism” of the SF police department.

When cops see a black doing a crime they need to run in the opposite direction and say they could not locate the perp.

;-)
