DeSantis for President is selling plain white cotton T-shirts bearing the legend “DeSantis Airways” for $28 apiece.
The governor signed an executive order Oct. 12 authorizing the Florida Division of Emergency Management to “carry out logistical, rescue and evacuation operations to keep its residents safe.”
Per the DeSantis team, at least 544 Americans have been brought back from Israel via the flights.
Kevin Guthrie, executive director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, estimated to NewsNation Tuesday that the price tag of the initial flight was “right around $4 million

Thanks for posting this thread about the new shirts. Purchased three of the t-shirts.
What’s next a commercial with Sally Struthers begging more money for meatball?
Yup, desantis didnt do much except attach his name to a plan others had regarding rescue, so he could try to prop himself up. He’s still just a tool.

Trump is allowed to make his own decisions.

Standing tall is something Rob can’t do.

Ride along with what?
Your word salad is very lib media-like.
Nonsense. The B-757 can be ETOPS, but regardless, non-ETOPS aircraft cross the Atlantic EVERY DAY. Trump’s B-757 could make the trip tomorrow. No special clearances, no special certifications.
Arm-chair pilots? How many Atlantic crossings have they made? Me? Many, many, in two engine airliners.
Right. With the man facing multiple lawfare suits, you think his plane’s getting any permission to fly anywhere outside the US?
Big time bad taste.
It was a good thing I suppose. But it’s not as if these people were truly stranded. The State Department had already started flying Americans from Israel to Europe where they can catch commercial flights back to the states. They had already evacuated 1,000 by Monday. I don’t know what that number is up to by now. Plus Corey Mills went and got 77 out within the first few days of the war.
But an issue with the State Department flights is that they require evacuees to repay the costs of the flights, at some future date. So basically DeSantis helped some of them avoid the cost of their flights back home - at the Florida taxpayers’ expense. Is that a good thing? Perhaps. On top of that he may have helped expedite rescue efforts that were already underway by Operation Dynamo, although that’s less clear. But either way, the most he did was speed up a process that was already well underway and used state funds to subsidize the costs.
But the thing about all of this is that it required very little effort or personal risk on the part of DeSantis. Someone on Free Republic correctly observed recently, that DeSantis likes to go for the low hanging fruit. He looks for problems that are relatively easy to address and which have good optics. Then he pats himself on the back and touts his amazing leadership abilities.
So, DeSantis may have had a positive role in an evacuation effort that was already underway. But again, these people were not truly stranded. Nor were they truly rescued -not in the same sense that the Americans left in Afghanistan are/were stranded or rescued. These are not hostages we’re talking about. So as usual, we see DeSantis hyping and exaggerating his accomplishments while being a no show on important issues that would require him to stand up to the establishment.
Desantis is showing he, like Trump, can, when he wants, make a situation personal between himself and someone else, instead of just leaving the matter as it is.
I agree with you this criticism of Trump is nonsensical - he does not have the weight of government behind him to carry out this operation like DeSantis.
Though you, an open supporter and cheerleader for murderous dictators and terrorist regimes, are hardly in a position to call anyone a “freak.”
Trump doesn’t have to be on the plane.
Besides, no approval is needed to leave the US for Trump’s B-757.
Proof by assertion.
Well, you won’t believe me either way, so there is no proof you will accept, but 40 years an airline pilot give me a whole lot more background than you most likely.
But believe what you want.
The politics of the present would not allow Trump to use his property for any such purpose. I would not wish what he is presently going through on you or anyone, frankly; the man’s time is quite divided.
