Right, I think many presidents want to be seen as a “wartime president.” Dubya was one eager to declare himself as such, and Biden clearly relishes the latitude it offers for extending his power to act. Taking advantage of a crisis, as they say, and war can be spun as the greatest crisis.

Yeah, the strategy is becoming quite clear now - come in and commit acts so savage that it would push the Israelis to a knee-jerk response to the usual invasion of Gaza, and while being focused on that, hit their flanks from different directions with the real war. The incursion from Gaza was bait as I thought it was. But the Hamas monkeys miscalculated, the Israelis don't function off emotion like they would. Now their resources they so carefully built up get ground down for no capital gain.
