Social media accounts belonging to the State of Israel and the Israeli ambassador to the US appear to have deleted a video on posts claiming that a rocket fired from within Gaza caused the deadly explosion at Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City.
The video showed a barrage of rockets being fired, with one appearing to go off-course in a downward trajectory, followed by the flash of an apparent explosion.
Both accounts edited their posts after Aric Toler, a journalist with the New York Times visual investigations team, questioned the time stamps on the video.
Those time stamps indicated that the video was recorded at least 40 minutes after the explosion at the hospital was first publicly reported, Toler said.
It was not clear if the video was removed from the Israeli accounts on X as a result of Toler’s analysis.
Both Israeli accounts kept the original text in their posts following the edit, which repeated the Israeli military’s previous statement that the strike on the hospital was the result of an off-course rocket launched by the ISIL (ISIS) group.

The NYT…that bastion of objectivity
The NYT’s ?
Might as well get our information directly from Hamas.
Al-Jazeera went on a propaganda jihad about four days ago when their Gaza field office was turned into rubble by the IDF.
Those time stamps indicated that the video was recorded at least 40 minutes after the explosion
Okay... So... What exploded in GAZA 40 minutes later??? Because that explosion was massive and somebody died.
Wouldn’t be the first time those ragheads have blown themselves up.

Whoa: Israeli media is reporting that the IDF has a recording of a conversation between Islamic Jihad terrorists confirming that they launched the rocket that hit the Gaza hospital.
It will reportedly be released shortly.
I was also under the impression that one of the original video’s was a video taken live by AlJazeera and being replayed on AlJazeera. However in the modern social media world things can be mis stated.
Certainly a failed launch.
Major failure in launching. Israeli weapons are unlikely to perform that poorly.
By now we all should be aware that video and audio by themselves are never proof of anything, although it is sometimes possible to detect that it is a bad fake.
Camera time stamps are sometimes in error, because the camera clock is set manually.
40% fail. Many land within Gaza.
It is perfectly and manifestly obvious that Israel did not bomb the hospital.
Cell phone video provides useful evidence.
Israel has drone footage of it to release, so Aric Toler can stuff it where the sun doesn’t shine.
The story is not at the link.
To be fair, I see where a lot of folks are saying this is an old video.
There is another video that (supposedly) shows Israel intercepting a Hamas rocket and the rocket falling on the hospital.
I apologize for any wrong information.
