Ami Horowitz made a video of liberal Berkley students being asked if ID requirements were racist and they said essentially that blacks were too downtrodden and dumb to be able to figure out where and how to get a license or ID. Then he went to Harlem to ask blacks about whether they had ID and if they knew how to get it. A lot of them gave directions to the nearest DMV license office. It was a pretty funny example of the bigotry of low expectations.
I think one lawsuit over the difficulty of getting IDs had to dig down to find retired nuns in North Carolina to be the plaintiffs. I'm having trouble getting my dad in a nursing home an ID, but that's mainly dealing with getting proof that he needs a remote application instead of coming in.
