I don’t understand the politics of this.
Hearing these news accounts, you can get the impression that liberals are in favor of Hamas and Palestinian terrorism, because of alleged crimes of Israel.
And on the other hand, I get the impression that conservatives support Israel and are aghast at the terrorist acts of war against civilians.
I don’t get why liberals, even if they support a Palestinian state, would be ok with the slaughter of innocents, but that seems to be how many look at this.
One would hope both liberals and conservatives would condemn death and destruction, but apparently not all liberals can do so.

I think the terms “liberal” and “conservative” no longer are of much use in defining the Right and the Left.
Today’s Left no longer even pretends to fight for the poor and the oppressed. Their cries of “racism” and “privilege” are not intended to lift anyone up, but rather to tear things down. They mean to destroy the Constitutional and Judea-Christian bedrock of the Republic.
If you look at the Left through this lens, everything they do makes perfect sense. Their agenda is utter destruction.

Because you can’t support the Palestinians without being okay with the slaughter of innocents, since that is just about the only tactic Palestinians ever pursue.
They do. I'm reading Gen Z-oriented websites and they are filled with nonstop propaganda about how the poor Palestinians had no choice but to murder in frustration after decades of brutal Israeli occupation. The kids eat it up like ice cream - probably hoping they can some day kill Mom and Dad the same way to get their inheritances early. They are totally impervious to any factual correction.
