Israel has declared a state of war after Hamas launched a series of surprise attacks from the Gaza Strip on Saturday.
Palestinian fighters poured into southern Israel by land, sea, and air, the Israeli Defense Forces said. Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif said his forces launched 5,000 rockets toward Israel on Saturday, Insider reported.
In response, a Russian defense official urged peace between Israel and Hamas.
"We urge to immediately start a peace process on the basis of existing internationally recognized agreements," Mikhail Bogdanov, Russia's deputy foreign minister and former ambassador to Israel and Egypt, told state media agency Tass on Saturday.

That’s rich coming from the Muscovites, especially when Putin is the puppet master behind the sudden Palestinian attacks.
fist, just the idea that Russia - a country which is openly invading another one - is suggesting “peace” is hilarious

First, raze the Gaza Strip to the ground, dynamite all the underground warrens and tunnels, and plant it to birdseed. Then launch a preemptive strike on already-identified targets in Iran.
When the Iranians are ready to come to the table, concede nothing, but leave a veiled warning that any other incursions into Israeli territory will be met with unrestrained retaliation, and no prisoners will be taken. Escalation has consequences, most of which are not at all favorable to the side the initiates the escalation.
Launch 5K rockets...call for peace.
Recognized agreements.
Think vagrancy laws and how they affect the homeless.
Russia urging peace?
Putin is a big John and Yoko fan.
