The rate of American casualties in a future USA vs. Russia war would be much higher than we saw in Afghanistan.

Paging Captain Obvious ...

This can only be a surprise to the opportunists in the upper echelons of the US military who saluted and went along with Bush's transformation of US heavy forces like armor and artillery into light infantry, believing that the history fairy had made any near peer warfare impossible.

Now do our shrunken, badly equipped and trained Navy vs. China.

I can’t say that I often agree with you, but you NAILED IT here, and that was one of my main reasons to not get into wars with superpowers that have been expanding and upgrading their militaries over the past few decades, when we haven’t done jack, other than continue to shrink, shrink, shrink, our military.

I also know the Leftist mindset, which is that the world is no different today than it was in 1990, and we can clobber anyone - so why not have some ‘fun’ around the world, especially if it means ridding the world of the pesky governments in China and Russia?

That attitude will get us blown off the map.
