Pirates are All armed and prepared to take lives of anyone who stand in their way. Escape options are are limited so they have to be even more aggressive to prevent being cornered/ captured.

I have lots of sympathy for oppressed Pirates who show initiative, but they really should start closer to home by trashing Eugene if they want to bring about effective change.
I fondly remember a trip involving a van full of people from the speech team senior year making mischief in SF.
We were a pretty rowdy bunch, but in a creative and conservative way. (Repurposing government property used for oppressive purposes among other things). My debate partner and I liberated South Carolina from Dinkin’s classroom map (she was the assistant coach at the time) and hauled South Carolina round in a briefcase all year for good luck.
