Sure they will get lots of help from MSM in blaming the shutdown on conservatives. But history proves that republicans gain seats in elections after shutdowns. The base wants representatives that leads and hates those that cave.

The D’s took control of the House in the 2018 elections (after two shutdowns that year).
The R’s gained seats in 2020, but D’s remained majority.
The R majority is razor thin now.
