Government jobs seem to pay well.

How much did her billionaire husband benefit from insider knowledge. That’s a rhetorical question.

I dont think most of it was from elected office connections. She had a lottttt of money, even for them! I’m pretty certain the majority of her money came from a billionaire husband or ex husband (not sure which). Of course she may have met him through her connections from elected office. But, a $60 million dollar plane??????? 😳

Politicians who become rich from their term in office are presumptively corrupt.

Although Feinstein was hopelessly corrupt, most of her money came from the principal beneficiary of that corruption (Richard Blum), who was president of Catellus Development, aka the old Southern Pacific Railroad real estate fortune.

I have yet to see mention of Chocolate Mountain on any of these Feinswine threads, as is typical of latter day FReepers.

I detest the fulsome praise heaped upon her. Feinstein was a dirty communist. Her massive wealth is disgusting. She is an obvious inside trading influence peddler.

We need a new law. Congressmen and Senators can make *NO MONEY* (beyond their salary) while serving in government.

It is disgusting how they use their offices to become wealthy, and it needs to stop.

Congressmen and Senators should not be in those jobs to make money, and we need to make it absolutely illegal for them to profit from jobs that are supposed to serve the public.

She didn't take with herself a penny of those many million$$ when she went to her just reward.

My instinct for any person who was born in or has legally migrated to this nation & has accumulated a good degree of wealth, is almost always to be more than happy for them. 4 out of 5 American millionaires are from the middle classes & a decent portion grew up working class. They almost all got their wealth because of hard work. Even the vast majority of inherited wealth are truly decent people. I’ve never been sympathetic with the tiny group of conservatives who jumped on board the ‘hate the rich’ perspective. They’ve always been insufferable & its never been part of the conservative worldview- it’s always been the province of the hard left. That being said, the one exception to that, for me, has always been extreme wealth & career politicians. The one vital group that should be more representative of the average American are the people we elect to represent ourselves, our values, our principles, our ideas, our experiences & our hopes. In that we have utterly failed!!! 🤔

But it’s not just them, it’s their family members & pals!
Family members, pals & political cronies can make money off the “opportunities” they’re tossed. Compensation to the senator, etc can occur later. The local media does a terrible job “policing” this, quite often they’re in on it. The only real solution is to restrict the “damage” by limiting the time in office with term limits.

The law I propose would require constant scrutiny of any member of their family making large sums of money for any reason.

We should discourage anyone from seeking such office for enrichment. Donald Trump did it right. He was already rich and didn't need anything from government, he just wanted to serve.

Oh, and Term Limits is a great idea. Yes, that should be implemented too.

But then again there are more beneficiaries than the girls.

With the infighting, lawyers will keep the clients fighting, thereby whittling the estate down significantly.

Another fine legal tradition.
