Trump should NOT repeat his mistake with Pence. Nor any of this other mistakes with Chief of Staff, nominations for cabinet, selection of private attorney, etc. etc. Trump should be his own Vice President. Also, his own Chief of Staff, etc., etc. And, Trump should have Trump University give him a law degree so he doesn’t have to rely on incompetent lawyers like Rudy, Sidney Powell, Michael Cohen, and whatever knuckleheads he has representing him in the New York fraud case.

I agree it was heading that way but the Lewandowski thing is a deal breaker.

Trump moves residence out of Florida and chooses Byron Donalds for VP.

I’ve been saying for two years that Noem would be a perfect VP candidate for Trump.

...for Donald Trump, it’s not about the republican party. It’s about Donald Trump.

Good observations, Yes it does seem that Free Republic has changed.

We are told that just about every Republican besides Trump is some sort of RINO or is too liberal or is too deep state.

Spend enough time on Free Republic , and you will be told that there is something wrong with just about every nationally known Republican.

The nominee doesn’t pick his running mate. The VP candidate is selected by the party leadership. That’s why VP candidates are always controlled by party insiders.

Even Ronald Reagan had to accept a career GOP hack (Bush I) as his running mate in 1980.

Good, he can’t trust any of them.

Trump doesn’t have a good history of picking the right person for a job. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to be in his cabinet anyway, unless they’re nuts or a grifter like a Kari Lake.

The biggest change here is that there are probably fewer Republicans and more “independent conservatives” on FR than ever before.

Unlike many folks here, I don’t despise establishment Republican politicians. I can even rationalize some of their “RINO” decisions. I will just never trust them to do the right thing when it matters most.

The Republican Party has nobody to blame but themselves for this. They destroyed the amicable relationship they had with their own grassroots supporters by giving this country a parade of feckless @ssholes in prominent national roles — like George W. Bush, the Cheney cabal, John McCain, Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, etc. — over the last 25 years.

Actually, there is. They are cucks and globalists for the most part. The GOP is dead as it should be. It represents nobody but the elites.

Those posers do not represent the people of America.

IIRC, if Trump becomes President, he can fire every US attorney.

Hahah, I recommended that Trump to do this last debate to steal the show (but I had him saying there was a front runner). Well done Mr. President. Kari Lake said she doesn’t even think any of them would be good enough for that because they’re trying to destroy the guy who has 60% support.

Chump might as well pick Omarosa as his running mate. It will be as historically relevant as Paul Ryan’s vice-presidential candidacy.

All it takes is someone who loves the country and its ideas. The idea that you need any special experience to be SOE or HUD is nonsense. If you’re able to do heavy loads of work you’re prepared for most of the jobs. SOS and maybe Defense and AG may be the exceptions. May be.

AG can’t be anyone who has spent any time in Washington at all! Paxton maybe...don’t know enough about him but he does seem to be enemies with some good enemy types. Not getting ahead though, Trump needs to wrap up and win the Primary.
