Rice has been working with U.S. lawmakers and Pentagon officials for several months, pushing for the munitions upgrades he previously told Newsweek could "win the war" for Kyiv, by enabling Ukrainian forces to devastate Russian command posts, logistics hubs and supply routes in the occupied "land corridor" of southern Ukraine...
President Joe Biden appears poised to green light ATACMS transfers following his meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky at last week's United Nations General Assembly in New York. What version of the weapon and how many rockets will be provided remains unclear, as does the timeline for delivery.
Rice believes the ATACMS M39 rocket with a range of just over 100 miles, plus shorter-range M26 and M26A1 rockets—all armed with cluster munitions—could serve as potent weapons for the Ukrainian military and steppingstones to the longest-range rocket with the unitary explosive warhead...
"Giving them the 20-, 28-, and 100-mile range cluster options made a perfect compromise," Rice added. "The three M26, M26A1 and M39 are all 'need to have'" weapons for the Ukrainians, he said. "I believe they will choose M26, M26A1 and M39 as a compromise for the 190-mile ATACMS."

There was a report on here a few weeks ago that the Ukrainians are being sent some of the 300,000 munitions that were slated for disposal at the Sierra Army Depot in California.

At some point, I expect Putin to use a nuke.
And everyone will say what a bad man he is.
And the US will be very upset.
But I don’t see how the US would be justified in responding in a strong way. We are not at war — are we? The Ukraine fight isn’t a NATO fight. If we see a nuke go off and just jump in, then it is we who are attacking Russia.
If we do nothing (as I think we should) then the precedent has been set — nukes can be used on the battlefield (and I think that’s bad).
Biden is getting us into a situation which is a no-win situation for the US. It didn’t need to be this way. We shouldn’t be involved in Ukraine.

....lol, with all due respect, you must be very young. We’ve been “at war” with the Russians, or their former political unit the USSR, all my life. And, I’m OLD.
We were at war with the bastards in the Berlin Airlift, we were at war with them in Korea, we were at war with them in Vietnam, we were at war with them in Cuba, we were at war with them in Kosovo and we are at war with them now in Ukraine, and we recently were in an actual shooting at each other war with them in Syria.... and I’m sure I missed a few “wars” with the Rooskies.
In nearly all of those wars, Russian communist leaders have threatened us with nukes. So, threatening us with nukes in the Ukraine war is, minimally, nothing new.
We’ve lost the high ground now. Anyone can now use them and say the American’s used them first.
It’s kind of neat how Biden gives the Neocons a relative handful of missiles so that the Russians can learn how to jam them, as they did with the GPS-controlled HIMARS.
Minor note on history… the Soviet Union and communism in Russia collapsed in 1989. Just sayin’.
And why is it, if we are so completely supportive of the ukes, that we are slowly parcelling out these weapons, too few, too late and after huge Uke casualties? Its as if they want this to grind on forever. Thoughts?

It appears Ukraine is leveraging the longer range weapons that can hit Moscow and have been aiming to take Putin out. A some point, that is going to be answered. If the US is culpable in financing and providing active support in attacking Moscow, the Russians would have justification for putting weapons on US soil.
If this is a “game changer” why did Biden wait till 100k + Ukrainians got killed ?
