New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) has joined the small, but growing chorus of Democrats urging Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) to resign from the U.S Senate after the fellow New Jersey Democrat was indicted on federal bribery charges Friday morning.
Murphy, in a statement reported by CBS News, branded the bombshell claims against Menendez “deeply disturbing,” adding that the claims “implicate national security and the integrity of our criminal justice system.”

I think that’s half the story, and as soon as we find out who it is that they will bring in off the bench, that will tell the rest of the plan.
I think it’s more then optics alone. There’s another reason.
Hasn’t this guy reached the age where he is too old to resign and will just stay in office until he dies?
This time, the Democrats won't circle the wagons around Menedez. They want to force him out as soon as they can. The longer this story stays in the spotlight, the more people will point out the similarities between Menedez's crimes and that of the Bidens. The Dems want this story to go away as quickly as possible.
