Yes, I think you’re right.
I used to tell my friends that at least Bush 1 and Bush 2 appointed conservative judges. So a vote for them had value.
I now longer feel that way. If I could go back in time, I’d write in Rush Limbaugh every time a Bush was on the ballot. Yes, that might be a wasted vote. But at least I wouldn’t be part of the farce.
Part of the farce...
The vote I regret most was for Kim Campbell in 1988. She only won by a couple hundred votes. She was responsible for the first big Canada gun control grab, as well as the 1993 Conservative wipeout.
1988 was the “Free Trade” election. Another mistake. The Liberals and New Democrats (socialists) claimed to oppose it, (”the fight of their lives”) but by 1993 they flipped over and not only supported it, but supported NAFTA as well !
Also, stupid Mulroney introduced the GST (a value added tax) after 1988. The Liberals and the NDP again were dead against it, but when they got into power they raised it !
Like you say, voting “on the issues” just validates their farce.
Dole sponsored the bill so he should get the blame, not Bush.
