Some of the overseas landlords are not going to be happy.

In Hong Kong and China leases often have an escalator clause allowing landlords to raise rent in mid contract.

I believe that the message they are sending has been incompletely quoted.

I think what they are really saying is:

You will own nothing and be happy that you and your family have been allowed to live.

It is already nearly impossible to evict a bad tenant in Cali. This will simply destroy even more small landlords and allow the large management corporations to take over.

When my mom passed in 2012, her house was in a trust that was part of her estate. My sister and I had equal interests in the property. I had no desire to be a CA property owner. My sister removed the property from the trust (wiping out the Prop 13 protection) and financed half the value to buy out my interest. I put the proceeds into real estate in Idaho. My sister holding a half-value mortgage was assessed a new tax basis. The new taxes and mortgage consume what she can ask in rent...and now she has the onus of being a CA landlord.

Including giving striking workers unemployment benefits.

How is this even legal. The government must maintain neutrality and that is not neutral. It means labor can stay on the picket lines until they get everything they want.

It also means that the unions don't have to reach into their coffers to support the striking workers. The dems by shifting the costs to taxpayers ensures that the unions have plenty money left to donate to the dems campaign coffers. I.e. you and I are funding them.

Does this mean it’s now OK to start stuffing every democommietards we can find into a state hospital for the mentally ill? It would sure help clean things up in the US.
