As I wrote in another thread this morning, I am peeved at the disrespect shown by some Freepers toward veterans... We owe a debt of respect, honor, and gratitude to all those who have served in the United States military. Regardless of politics. I am dismayed to see a number of non-veteran Freepers trash veterans to make their political pot shots. Seems particularly out of place on FR.
...at lease we are not being spit upon like veterans were from Vietnam, we don't see reports of veterans 'going postal' nowadays, but we sure do see a lot of dissing of veterans, splitting hairs about their service, etc. Worst part is, it is, as before, by non-veterans. A shame really.
The tree of liberty is pretty drought-stricken right now. We’ll either fix that issue.... or let “it” die, finally.
I am afraid you are 100% correct. Who knows when it will be, but my suspicion is sooner rather than later.
A little Roman history is worth re-learning. The Romans, probably the greatest empire of the ages, started out in about 750 BC and had an amazing run until about 180 AD. That was an incredible 400-year run and then it all began to unravel with the Emperor Commodus. From there, it was a downward spiral with one dud after another as Emperor. And then Rome was no more within about 200 years.
So since the 90s, we've had our own share of "duds." Clinton, Bush, Obama, and now Biden. So, for well over 30 years, we've been managed by losers, liars or outright lunatics. I'm tempted to put Trump in the mix because of his brash, in-your-face ego personality. To me, he was not a leader but more of a buzz-saw or human hand grenade.
Things move a lot faster today, you know.

My father used that pendulum analogy 40 years ago. But he said the pendulum never swings as far right as it did before, and always swings a little more left than it did before. Time has shown him to be absolutely correct.
No-one knows the future, but this Regime is propped up by having the $US as the international currency.
That allowed them to run huge deficits for decades at low interest rates and low inflation.
It also allows unlimited money printing without ruinous inflation or devaluation.
If the $US as the international currency comes to an end, the USA (and the West generally) will be a formerly-industrialized economy with gigantic trade and budget deficits, unable to even finance imports.
When the DC Regime has no money, it will have no way to pay the Deep State and will just collapse - just like the USSR did.

I spent 7 years in the military (USNR), 2 years active in West Pac, 3 going to meetings weekly, 2 years inactive.
Like you, I’m no hero but I did what they ordered me to do, most of the time (lol) and my DD214 says “Honorable Discharge” and that means a whole lot to me. If it said anything but that, I would not be who I am today, for sure.
In 2023, to me, the US military is both embarrassing and said. Is there hope, I don’t know. A friend sent me a 3 minute vid the other day of all the perverts in uniform (about 20 of them), officers and enlisted, 2 guys were on a runway embraced in a lip lock with one guy completely off the ground with his legs wrapped around the guy he was kissing. They were in camos so I could not tell what branch. Thankfully!
I think civil war is possible because I think a lot of guys will not take orders from these pervs but will fight for their country. Thankfully, I’m too old under any circumstance but I know some people who would not go along happily in todays military which, to me, explains why they can’t recruit.
It's worse than that. VP Cheney got a pass by many for his multiple deferments because of his politics. Now, people of note that got deferments are respected and lauded. Nonsense. Rightly or wrongly, Muhammad Ali walked the walk, as did those who went off to CCC camps.
Whether you serve in the military, Peace Corps, Merchant Marines, etc - you went the extra step and that shows extra character. But there are now multiple posters that run down military service because politics.

The rest of the Left is screeching against this because they worry about the “gun issue” in the 2024 election.
But the Left contols the institutions, and this is absolutely how they intend to rule.
For future pandemics, climate change, guns they can just declare a public health “State of Exception” and do whatever they want.

The $US as the international currency is the critical detail.
The DC Regime has sufficiently alienated a large bloc of countries (BRICs) via the misuse of sanctions that they are looking for an alternative.
The BRICs by themselves haven’t been able to come up with a complete replacement for the $US, just agreements to use their own currencies - which does weaken the dollar.
My hunch is that they will eventually realize that the using the Euro will give them what they want, the EU has an incentive to make the Euro the international currency - and that will be it for the $US dollar.
That could happen very fast. A clear defeat in Ukraine might be enough to trigger that.
It is tough being a veteran or active duty when you have taken an oath to defend the Constitution, doing your best to stand by that oath, and then find out that the president & other elected officials don’t stand by the oaths they took.
I live with my oath by recognizing that the country I swore to defend never existed in my lifetime. Somewhat of a cowardly rationalization on my part. But otherwise I would have to take up arms.
Trump exposed the fraud. It broke my heart especially since I still have one child serving — mostly because of my encouragement.
