U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken made an unannounced visit to Kyiv on Wednesday morning and is expected to announce hundreds of millions of dollars of new spending in addition to the billions of extra dollars expected from Washington this week.
The visit by Blinken comes just hours after the city experienced a Russian missile attack and is another physical expression of support for Ukraine from its Western backers which has seen dozens of world leaders travel by special train to the country from neighbouring Poland. As well as a wreath-laying and meeting senior ministers, Blinken is due to see Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today to discuss the long-anticipated and now beleaguered counteroffensive that the U.S., with allies, is funding.

How about PEACE TALKS INSTEAD OF MONEY LAUNDERING, DUM ASS.
Just another in a long line of “Pentagon Accounting Errors” to “fund” this fiasco.
Funny how those “Pentagon Accounting Errors” never to towards increasing the pay or resources for personnel.
If we had a Congress, this would have been reined in a long time ago.
Just amazing. This administration is just so disconnected with the American people, and the infuriating part of it is that they JUST DON’T CARE.
Easily the most blatantly corrupt bunch of a-holes that have ever inhabited Washington.
We have a $2 trillion annual budget deficit this calendar year. We are the world’s biggest debtor nation. We have to BORROW THE MONEY to send to Ukraine.
Annual debt servicing costs on our $32.5 trillion national debt are approximately $600 billion. It will soon exceed DOD’s annual budget. We can’t afford these endless wars that don’t involve our strategic national interests.
Not one more cent should be sent to Ukraine, one of the most corrupt countries in the world. We are prolonging this proxy war, which stated in 2014 after the US/EU engineered coup of the duly elected government of Ukraine. It was led by Victoria Nuland. It spawned the separatist movement in the Donbas and the first unopposed Russian invasion that annexed Crimea.
This all started under the Obama/Biden Administration. We have a compromised President who took millions in bribes from Ukraine. How much of our policy towards Ukraine is affected by the leverage Ukraine has over Biden?
We are now in a new Cold War that has resulted in a global political realignment, which is extremely dangerous for us. Most of the world is ignoring the sanctions against Russia, which has moved closer to China, the real existential threat to America.
As Robert Gates, former defense secretary in the Obama administration, once put it, Biden has “been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.”
This time he’ll bring Winkin and Nod along
Just as long as no American taxpayer money goes to helping American taxpayers........
[We have to BORROW THE MONEY to send to Ukraine.]
Yes. I remember reading that George W. Bush was borrowing from China to finance the nation-building in Iraq and Afghanistan. I read that a long time ago.
Another round of cash for American politicians. Grover approves.
Really? US last year handed out covid money like a drunken sailor. US spent 100 billion last year on Ukraine out of a total 6.6 TRILLION dollar budget.
Update: Three rounds of stimulus checks. See how many went out and for how much.
While you may have heard them referred to as stimulus checks, the Economic Impact Payments were for the most part direct deposited into bank accounts or sent out as bank cards. More than 476 million payments totaling $814 billion in financial relief went to households impacted by the pandemic. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) based the amounts that individuals received on income, tax filing status, and number of children (or qualifying dependents, like a relative).

I had an acrimonious discusson with another Freeper recently, someone who I had come to respect, but he clearly has toed the line that Putin is Hitler in 1933, and we better stop him early. He even went as far as to accuse me of not knowing history, an accusation I wouldn’t throw around lightly unless I knew someone well.
I have felt in my life that if we had cash to burn, we could burn it by supporting people who are the enemies of our enemies, but I simply don’t believe we have that luxury when we have to borrow money from our great grandchildren to do it.
There are limits.
I don’t believe we should be sending one cent to them, as Ukraine is not our friend and ally. Sure, they sent 1000 men to Iraq at one point, and they did give up their nuclear weapons at our urging, but that was thirty years ago.
They are hostile to our interests, and corrupt to the core as their funneling of money to people like Biden clearly show.
And the $3.7 trillion dollar “Inflation Reduction Act” did absolutely nothing for any taxpayer
Well, maybe those who got cash for favorite projects of Nancy and friends
The American taxpayer is on the hook for the money. We pay China, Japan, and other holders of our T-bills the debt servicing costs of the borrowed money. And the Fed holds trillions of dollars of printed money.
By the end of 2009, gross federal debt totaled roughly $12 trillion — of which $7.6 trillion was debt held by the public, and $4.4 trillion was intragovernmental debt (or debt held by government accounts, such as Social Security and Medicare trust funds).
It is now $32.5 trillion.
Yet another reason I predict another 2008 crash is coming
There was an article on FR years ago that said they used up every tool back then
I’ll have to remember to look for it one of these days
nothing to worry about with the Defense chief just having been fired for corruption. just keep on walking...
Mo’ Money! Mo’ Money! Mo’ Money!
Well said.
10% for the Big Guy.
Friggin’ deadbeat Ukies. Can’t even pay for their own war. Need the American taxpayers to pay for it.
