This ruling, which I agree with, is going to have some serious consequences with law enforcement on every level. Especially the drug and traffic cops that make a living on that activity.

I’ve suspected for a long time the only reason law enforcement went after drug dealers is so they could confiscate their homes, guns and cars.
This is how Portland became a drug haven.
The drug dealers got around the law by selling on the MAX light rail.

The way the DOJ is working now, just being a conservative is enough for them to confiscate your home.

The decision is reasonable.

One hilarious unintended consequence (which law enforcement should enjoy) is that when many folks show up for the hearing they can then be arrested for all of their outstanding warrants.
