President Joe Biden on Wednesday warned that Hurricane Idalia was continuing to wreak havoc on the southeast United States but lauded the work of emergency responders and state officials, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. The Democratic president said he and the Republican governor — himself a 2024 presidential candidate — have put aside politics to focus on protecting Florida’s residents, just as he says they did during recovery efforts last year after Hurricane Ian. “I think he trusts my judgment and my desire to help, and I trust him to be able to suggest this is not about politics, this is about taking care of the people of his state,” said Biden, speaking from the White House.

This is Biden’s campaign team calculating the following:
If DeSantis is the nominee, just about 70% of Trump voters will stay home, or vote for RFK, Jr, or even vote for Biden. Anything to destroy the GOPe.
In contrast, if Trump is the nominee, about 4% of the GOP vote will do the same as above. Anything to hurt Trump. So Biden’s team obviously will pick DeSantis.
And when polls next summer show Trump is going to win the general, he’ll be assassinated — if they can find some Secret Service people to help. A failed attempt will generate a DC exodus on airplanes like we’ve never before seen.
DeSantis had to do it right because he can’t blame global warming. And he doesn’t throw his competent subordinates under the bus to appease the media, as Bush,Jr., did.
