After bringing crime, corruption and 116% inflation, Argentina's ruling Peronist leftists held elections, beginning with yesterday's all-party primary.
They didn't like what happened next.
According to Reuters:
BUENOS AIRES, Aug 13 (Reuters) - Argentine voters punished the country's two main political forces in a primary election on Sunday, pushing a rock-singing libertarian outsider candidate into first place in a huge shake-up in the race towards presidential elections in October.
With some 90% of ballots counted, far-right libertarian economist Javier Milei had 30.5% of the vote, far higher than predicted, with the main conservative opposition bloc behind on 28% and the ruling Peronist coalition in third place on 27%.
The result is a stinging rebuke to the center-left Peronist coalition and the main Together for Change conservative opposition bloc with inflation at 116% and a cost-of-living crisis leaving four in 10 people in poverty.
"We are the true opposition," Milei said in a bullish speech after the results. "A different Argentina is impossible with the same old things that have always failed."
The electoral map looked like this -- and the primaries there are considered a "dress rehearsal" for the general election two months from now in October. Massa is from the ruling leftist party, Bullrich is from a center-right party, and Mifei is the outsider full-blown libertarian:
And while the Wall Street Journal, the AP, and Reuters attempt to brand him as "a far-right extremist," here's what they consider extremist:

Javier Milei, a Trump admirer, received the most votes in Argentina's primary. He wants to dollarize the economy, believes climate change is a lie, sees sex education as a ploy to destroy the family, and wants to make it easier for people to own handguns. https://t.co/VJKkYfN7Ji — Daniel Politi (@dpoliti) August 14, 2023
Far-right populist Javier Milei, an admirer of former U.S. President Donald Trump, rocked Argentina’s political establishment by emerging as the biggest vote-getter in primary elections to choose presidential candidates for the October general election. https://t.co/aPsTCMQlea — The Associated Press (@AP) August 14, 2023
The Argentinian press is so freaked out they've pulled out the "literally Hitler" card:
Milei is a right-wing Presidential candidate in Argentina who gained a lot of followers in a very short period of time.

The Argentinian media is comparing him to Hitler because he likes dogs. Wow.😂

Very exciting. And weeks from entering brics.
Thanks for posting this!
How sweet it is! Heads exploding, leftards melting. I can hardly wait for 2024!
We had better get in there before the Chicoms start a BRI project.
“center-left Peronist coalition” - HA! center-left my ass more like commie left.
Great for Argentina!
Because the left is so out of touch with what mainstream, grassroots people want.
They think that everyone wants what they have to offer and NOTHING could be further from the truth.
People don’t want others running their lives for them. They want to be left alone and run their own lives.
Good for him. It’s always entertaining to read about all the drawbacks to libertarianism amidst the total crap fest that the existing zeitgeist has produced.
Using a leave-people-alone, fewer-laws, less-intrusion, lower-taxes approach certainly couldn’t hurt.
They compared Trump to Hitler because Trump didn’t have a dog.
Now watch for the Argies to have a coup, collapse their economy, and then invade the Falklands again.
“With some 90% of ballots counted”
But Wait Wait! Hold on just a minute! The election was held yesterday and they have 90% of the vote already counted?
In a country of, what 45-50 million people? Arizona with less than 1/4 of that took something like 3-4 weeks?
Something don’t sound right here. Like there is something rotten in Denmark. Or there is Dutchman in the woodpile.
I hope he wins Argentine needs change. This guy is proposing getting rid of their ever inflating currency and instead use the US dollar as the nations currency. That would be good for the US dollar especially since other countries are trying to get away from it.
Good to hear a Libertarian winning a national election. It should happen here.
As far as drugs are concerned, I don’t do them, but go ahead and allow (hard drugs with a with license*), and tax their usage.
*The license registers you as a junkie and does not allow you to receive welfare benefits.
If you tax these drugs, that might actually help with the federal deficit! :)
90 years of socialism down the tubes good old boy club hit hardest.
“center-left Peronist coalition” The Peronist were NAZI’s so the Center Left is now NAZIs?
This is nothing that the communists and the Dominion vote fraudsters can’t handle.
Those policies worked out pretty well for Chile with Pinochet in power.
“Javier Milei, a ‘far-right’ outsider in Argentina”
Can’t they come up with something even farther right?
