It started with a sore throat on Weds. Felt identical to a cold at that stage.
I hit if with Betadine Sore Throat Gargel (povidone iodine) which has usually fixed sore throats for me in the past.
It turned into cold symptoms Sat - lethargy, more sore throat, runny nose, and achy muscles. The achy muscles are not normal for a cold — more of a flu-like symptom. I never ran a temperature at all. That lasted about three to four days. Did a home test on Sat and got positive. Did a lab test at the Urgent Care on Monday and it was positive.
I stayed home the rest of the week and felt almost normal by the end of the week. A follow-up home test showed negative. Felt tired and worn-out for another several days. Pretty much back to normal now.
I took a five-day course of Paxlovid. You are supposed to start it within five days of symptom onset and I might have been at five or six since the first indications of a sore throat, but the doc prescribed it for me anyway. Mrs. POF and I cleared about the same time (she might have been sick a day or two longer), so it’s hard to tell if Paxlovid did any good.
The COVID seems to have negatively affecting my sleep. I use a CPAP machine and wear a recording pulse oximeter at night. My sleep numbers have looked terrible since about halfway through COVID (on both the recording pulse-ox and the CPAP).
I hope you feel better.
I would urge you to look at and investigate getting a SOEMAC device for sleeping at night as well. Direct it wherever the cpap takes in air. They are excellent for improving oxygen absorbtion.
