President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will not travel to Maui in the aftermath of the devastating wildfires because they “don’t want to distract” from the ongoing rescue efforts, the VP said today – while at least 1,000 people remain unaccounted for.
“We don’t want to distract from the resources that need to go in to the victims of this tragedy, and of course the needs of the first responders have to be able to focus on that issue and not worry about focusing on us [because] we’re there,” Harris told reporters before boarding Air Force Two for Chicago Friday, CSPAN reported.

Uh huh. If that were GW Bush who was trashed for supposedly not acting outwardly “caring” enough for hurricane victims once, reaction now would be different.

High level politicians running around from disaster to disaster like some kind of grief-counselor-in-chief has quickly become an overused PR scam.
It just promotes the cult of the central government leader.
It was New Orleans. Bush didn’t go; not because “he didn’t care,” but because most victims were black and he is racist!

If they were to go it would not be much of a distraction when the 11 supporters show up.
Stick them all into an ice cream shop and no one will even know they are on the island.

Most interviews with survivors reveal that not much is happening at all with respect to Lahaina other than blocking inbound vehicular traffic, and firetrucks squirting water onto smoking piles of turf. Residents and loved ones who manage to get into town are perhaps trying to do more but there is no fuel, water, food, electrical power or communications.
The dead, sorry so say, appear to be being left exactly where they are, or were at the moment of death, such that a reporter walking up or down Front Street sees them on the street or even in burned-out cars.
It’s feared that many hundreds or even into the thousands may have perished...a 9/11-scale local toll in terms of human souls lost. But in Lahaina tragically that is a much larger percentage of the population. So terribly sad.

Because Biden’s dementia won’t permit it.
I saw footage of the devastation this morning and it was hard to keep from sobbing. All those sweet wonderful people, it heart breaking.
They are not going because they don’t give a flip.
Good. People don’t need to worry about their children being trafficked while they are recovering from a disaster.
I actually commend them for staying the hell away. They would have nothing positive to contribute anyway.
