Slavery did not end till Dec 6 1865 when the 13th Amendment was ratified. Two of those five slave states that remained in the Union still had slavery. Maryland and Delaware.

The Civil War had been over for 8 months.

True. Slavery was ended based on the 13th amendment, not based on union troops reaching Texas and spreading the news about the Emancipation Proclamation.

Shhhhh. At one time in his ‘career’ Joe 81millionvotes Biden bragged about Delaware almost being a part of the Confederacy. I think he was in the Old South courting votes.

Maryland outlawed slavery Nov 1864. Kentucky and Delaware had legal slavery until the XIII Amendment was ratified.,

Celebrate Juneteenth, as the day: The Civil War had been over for 8 months!

A new chapter in American history opened as the Thirteenth Amendment, was passed in January of 1865, was implemented and Republicans ended Democrat slavery!

That abolished slavery in the United States, and now, with the end of the Civil war, four million African Americans were free.
