The military governments of Burkina Faso and Mali have warned that any military intervention against last week’s coup leaders in Niger would be considered a “declaration of war” against their nations.

Niger’s neighbours issued the warning in joint statements read out on their national broadcasters on Monday, days after West African leaders threatened to use force to reinstate Niger’s deposed President Mohamed Bazoum.

Another example of Russia kicking the West’s diplomatic arse all around the world. At the Africa Russian Summit last week Russia was lauded for leading the anti imperialist movement among African nations. The sanctions the West supports will indeed result in a terrible humanitarian tragedy. These sanctions could be even more destructive for the area than the Russian sanctions have been to NATO countries.

There are lots of take aways from this latest action in Africa, but the most important one to note from our standpoint is that any successful coup requires a unified military opposition. Once that occurs, it’s all over but the shouting.

1) The much lauded African Summit you cite saw a decrease (from 43 to 17) of African heads of state/government attending compared to the last one in 2019. Mostly foreign ministers samba ambassadors showed up.

2) Neither Mali not Burkina Faso are in a position to do anything about Niger. They are both hip deep in Islamist insurgencies. Jama’at Nasr al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM), an Al Queda offshoot, is control most of the countryside in both nations. I suspect they will establish a caliphate within five years.

3) The “humanitarian tragedy” has been present in Mail for decades and in Burkina Faso since 2018. It’s Islamist driven, not by the West.

Sorry, “samba” should be “and.” Big fingers, little phone.

The fact is........ Russia isn’t and will not be

Trivial action in Africa is the pinnacle of Russian efforts abroad. In the overall scheme of things Black Niger doesn’t amount to a hill of beans.

Russia can’t replace France

Yep. Loving it.

A military coup ousts a democratically elected government and you ‘love it’?

What the hell is wrong with you and why do you fawn over authoritarianism?

Russia has already removed France. France is in the process of committing suicide anyway. South Africa is a charter member of Bricks. Egypt has applied. There are six other African nations who want to apply. Did you pay attention to the Russia Africa Summit? Who will provide a guaranteed source of cheap, abundant energy and food for a developing Africa, France?!? For developing nations the future is BRICS+ not the woke, bug eating, green globalist Western imperialists.

49 of 54 nations attended. Did you actually read the Russia Africa Summit Statement or are you just wanting to interject the administration spin on this thread? Did you ever hear of Wagner PMC? Along with the ONLY guaranteed source of cheap, abundant food and energy for a developing Africa, Russia is able to offer security services as well. The Russians are playing the Western imperialists treatment of Africa masterfully. Something the administration will probably endorse coming out of the Africa/Russia communique, reparations for Africa.

Saw this on Africa Hub

“France boasts the 4th largest gold reserves, with 2,436 tons, yet not a single gold mine within its borders.

Mali, a former colony of France, has 860 gold mines and produces 50 tons of gold per year, but doesn’t have any gold reserves in its banks.”

The Russians played the Western imperialist line perfectly at their Russia Africa Summit. Both Russia and Africa are now calling for reparations from Europe and the U.S. for Africa.

How quickly can Wagner PMC get enough force there to counter what the locals could muster? At the Russia Africa Summit security from Western imperialist meddling was a large topic of discussion.

“democratically elected”, says who? I suppose that government was just as “democratically elected” as the US satrap in Ukraine. And the first thing that government did was to tell the French to continue their raping of the country’s resources. Next goal was to open up their doors to American military dominance. Did you know the US has, or probably had, its largest drone base in Africa in Niger? Why? Authoritarianism like cancelled churches, elections, freedom of the press, oppo parties like in Ukraine? Hell, the previous sentence sounded like our quickly growing police state right here in the old USA.

You know it’s really wicked to see all the world imperialist circling like vultures to plunder the African continent. The West has now squandered their credibility with Africans so Russia and China are moving in. The Wagner entry into Africa says that Putin is determined now to put its foot down on the African continent.

Why do you think the powers that be want the Russian government and stability destroyed? The same imperialist vultures are circling, waiting for the motherlode of Russian resources to be opened up to be exploited.
