Yeah, I did as well. Pay was lousy but had fun. Most of the time.
People wrongly assume that Canada is more liberal than the United State in every way. Not on immigration issues!

If someone could find that article, its pretty entertaining.
But yeah, you do see a lot of misleading advertising from a certain group, especially in one of those H1-b scams where the job qualifications are unrealistic, but amazingly there are CVs that line up perfectly.
I had a friend comment the other day on social media that he wonders if the Now Hiring signs are just up because the companies are now actually looking for decent people to work instead of taking whatever walks in the door.
His son is 16 and in high school and wants to work but is having a hard time finding a job because no one wants to hire a high school kid now.
Maybe in Canada -— but ABSOLUTELY NOT here in the USA. We have been trying to hire for two years now. New High School graduates want $25/hr to start for part time work or they will just stay at home with Mommy and Daddy. They have no discernible skills and absolutely no work ethic -— can’t even show up to work consistently or on time. More than one new employee has locked themselves in the bathroom for an hour or more to play on their cell phone once or twice a day because we don’t let them be on their phone while at their work desk. We have to repeat our training daily for as much as six months for them to catch on -— that is IF they don’t just quit because the job is TOO HARD to answer the phone and fill in appointment slots on the computer. It is becoming impossible to run a steady business because our good employees are burned out taking up the slack for the new hires that don’t want to learn or do the work. We have a really great business with more clients than we can handle, and our clients are getting frustrated because it is hard for them to get an appointment with our insufficient staff. I have been here in this business in this town for almost 40yrs -— since 1985. I have never seen anything like this. Do I sound frustrated?!?

Could it be that illegals are allowed to flood in because, being illegal, they are willing to accept lousy pay and no benefits rather than being deported.

I remember where I was when I bought gas for 42.9 cents/gallon. Yes, even after 1973. That gas station is LONG gone, too.
Then, about 1978 or so, I was paying $1.50 a gallon for gasoline (on a visit to St. Louis).
Lying on CVs or cheating in college. On top of that, the two rudest nationalities on Earth. I’d rather hangout with someone from Ghana than those two dumps, and I am a biased guy…

Second thing ....working at McDonald’s in Toronto is nothing like working at one in Philly etc. You’re a lot safer in Toronto so it makes a bit more sense to line up for a job there.
I remember I quit my job to go to another restaurant competitor for 65 cents an hour! I was in hog heaven!............
I worked as a carhop for 85cents an hour, plus tips (hahahaha) -— so a 40hr week for about $30 after taxes.
IDK about their ESG score, but their stock is stable close to the 12 month high. I am always amused at the McDonald haters who seem so isolated from the market. Bad idea to underestimate MickeyD.
