ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — On Wednesday, a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated the completion of a new housing development for sustainable homes in Rochester.
Governor Hochul announced the completion of the $49 million mixed-use affordable housing development, Edna Craven Estates, which creates 164 sustainable homes and a new community center in Northeast Rochester, consisting of seven separate buildings along Clifford and Joseph Avenues.
The newly constructed Edna Craven Estates features ground-floor commercial space and a new community center.

You stole my post.
Whoops!
Wikipedia:Crime and neglect created hostile living conditions for many residents, and "Cabrini–Green" became a metonym for problems associated with public housing in the United States.
Does sustainable mean they won’t be decrepit rat traps in 5 years?
I grew up in Rochester, NY in the 50's. Back then, those streets were known for problems, and they only got worse over the years. I can't imagine putting in a new housing development will lower the horrendous crime rate in Rochester. Even the suburbs have gotten bad. A lot of carjackings (teens), shootings, and robberies. More houses to rob...yippee!!
298,780.48 each.
Lower middle class here in Dallas.
I can imagine what shape they will be in 6 years from now in that location.
10 years they will probably be demolished due to rat and insect infestation.
That will probably cost taxpayers another 50 mill.

Old magazine cartoon of four men in suits looking at a large scale model layout on an office table.
“I like everything about your ideal city plan but have only one question. Why did you place the black ghetto right next to the shopping district?”
” mixed-use affordable housing development,”
that is the key wording.
Sounds to me like 2023 version of “The Projects”.
Another chance for a developer & a few politicians to make a killing. Building another future slum.
The major industries in upstate NY are Federal government, state government, country government, government education, government health-care.
Oh, and Indian casinos
Instant inner city slums
Get a good look at it now, Rochester, it’s going to $hit in no time.
Will sustain the transfer of all the rest of the world's population, especially entire mexico, into the US.
That's what happened to the first public housing they constructed in Rochester. They tore down several buildings, one being the old Rochester General Hospital (where I was born), on West Main Street, and built a large group of apartment buildings. Within 10 years they were condemned and eventually torn down.
They probably used $12 of materials to build the place. Rest went to Developers.
sustainable housing means section 8
Yeah and the “community organizers” complain about Landlords charging market rate rents. Ummm that’s because the TENANTS trash the place.
Beat me to it! You took the words right out of my mouth!
I left inner city Rottenchester in 1994 and never looked back. I still live in upstate NY but the crime is now spreading out my way.
