A freight train derailed in Montgomery County early Monday morning, according to police and news reports.
The incident occurred at around 4:50 a.m. near the intersection of Stenton Avenue and Joshua Road in Whitemarsh township, according to 6ABC, NBC10 and the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The Whitemarsh Township Police Department said on Facebook that residents and businesses that were located closest to the accident have been evacuated, but that further evacuations are not believed to be necessary at this time.
The police department also said the only thing that leaking from any of the rail cars is silicone pellets, which do not pose a risk to the community. No injuries have been reported.
Joshua Road is closed between Flourtown Road and Stanton Avenue, police said.
6ABC reported that about 15 to 20 train cars could be seen off the tracks, some of which, according to NBC10, appeared to be bent.
NBC10 also said that while Norfolk Southern owned the tracks, the train was being operated by CSX.
It is not clear what caused the derailment yet or what exactly the freight train was hauling.

This just stinks to high heaven. God forbid if it would have been trumped sitting behind the White House desk while all these derailment happened, You know the mediapukes would’ve been howling at the top of their lungs.

Those bearded workmen in those head wraps work so hard on the rail maintenance and it’s still for nothing. They do take off for those call to prayer breaks a lot, though. Not very productive.
