Shoppers at Costco have noticed an asterisk on the price tag for Bud Light beer across the beverage aisle. Experienced Kirkland members have seen the sign before and call it the “death star.” It could be an indication that one of the largest retailers in the country may be considering not restocking the troubled beer brand.
Here’s a closer look.
Casual shoppers would barely notice a small asterisk on a price display above a shelf. These days most of the attention is on the price. However, Kirkland members believe the asterisk has special significance for Costco’s supply chain decisions. The asterisk is often associated with items that are being discontinued.
These items are usually marked down to get rid of supply on the shelves. It’s a subtle sign to Costco employees not to restock an item after the inventory is depleted. Devoted shoppers look for the asterisk to spot deals and have even nicknamed it the “death star” on the Facebook page Costco Fans.
Now the star is being spotted over cans of Bud Light. “Is it just me…Or am I the only one who noticed that Costco has applied their infamous 'Star of Death' on Bud Light being sold!” said one Twitter user.
Shoppers believe it means the Bud Light cans could soon be taken off Costco’s shelves.
The company hasn’t acknowledged these claims directly. But if true, BudLight sales could see a significant impact...

Good news.
Yes, excellent news. 📰📰📰📰📰📰
Maybe Sams and WalMart will do the same. The BL just sit there all stacked up neatly and everything around it gets bought up.
Die Bud, Die. Wrote the head clown in St. Louis, told him will never buy any InBev product again. They hate feedback like that.

My thoughts exactly.
I hope so.
There are videos that dissect what the different price tags at Costco actually mean. I took notes so I’ve learned the differences. It’s handy to use when shopping there, and I definitely remember the asterisk meaning “it’s on the way out so better grab it now.” Serves them right, especially since they recently doubled down.
That is Funny right There!

The "Death Star" is the asterisk in the top right corner of the price sticker.
(Apologies for the large images, they are what I could find.)
Haven’t missed Bud Light since quit buying it back in March or April when this BS started. Fug IAB!
AB needs to bite the bullet and suspend Bud Lite for good. After a reasonable period of time, they can introduce a new Lite Beer with a New label and an Ad campaign geared to the “Old Bud Lite Audience”.
Beware, Costco will stock another ABInBev brand and both will charge more.
I can’t remember ever drinking a BL, but it might have happened once or twice in the last 40 years.
“Life is too short to drink crappy beer.”*
*Some dude I know
This is how to get the attention of the corporatists..
Costco will will use that shelf space to stock whatever they believe will sell quickly.
There are a couple of brands I just cannot live without, but a deal is a deal. Just die, quickly please, so that someone else can own these brands and I can buy them again.
