I believe that was in 1974. The 1953 audit was supposedly a true audit. I say “supposedly” because there were no independent observers. So who knows what the government inspectors were actually doing.

They could have been carefully examining each bar. Or they could have been spending their days drinking coffee in the basement and playing gin rummy.
