The last forty years of politics and religion has been focused squarely on the ascendancy of the Religious Right. I must admit that I’ve probably contributed my fair share to that discourse, as well.
A motley crew of white evangelicals and traditional Catholics locked arms on some social issues, started voting in large numbers for Republican candidates, and changed American politics forever.
But I think that era of religion and politics is rapidly coming to a close. The Religious Right is no longer a primarily religious movement - it’s one about cultural conservativism and nearly blind support for the GOP with few trappings of any real religiosity behind it.
Here’s what I believe to be the emerging narrative of the next several decades: the rise of atheism and their unbelievably high level of political engagement in recent electoral politics. Let me put it plainly: atheists are the most politically active group in American politics today and the Democrats (and some Republicans) ignore them at their own peril.
The data is clear and unequivocal on this point - no one gets involved in the political process to the level of the average atheist.

Politics is their god.
Exactly, it is their religion. LBGT is an Atheist/Satanic cult and politics has become their alter.
There is a God-sized hole in the human heart, which we will fill with something, if not God Himself.
If they changed politics forever, how does it come to a close?
Altar
Politics is the world’s second oldest profession and owes a lot to the oldest one.
Democrats who pat themselves on the back for claiming to be religious are phonies who haven’t read the Bible except for the special one page in translation edition including render unto Caesar, give to socialist charity and don’t be judgmental toward anyone who kills babies by abortion.
The best selling New Age author Shakti Gawain apologetically said readers should substitute another word if “father” for God offends them.
She said many readers told her they had bad experiences with their own fathers. Her own work was influenced by her Quaker mother and the author wasn’t disdainful toward fathers or males.
I don’t follow any New Age stuff and can see how the pagan style is an outlet for the yearnings of young people especially to reach out to the one true God.
Socialist states make a practice of destroying the father as head of a family, and the family itself, because those stand in the way of regimented slaves to the government Marxism.
It’s not mine. Sure, I vote and engage in discourse with my friends and online (occasionally), but I’m not out there hocking leftist positions.
Also, all but one of my fellow Atheist friends lean right the way I do.
Atheists are individuals. Some are conservative. Some are liberal. They argue politics with the same enthusiasm theists do.
... I don’t. If I did, I’d be here non-stop.
