fter four days of unrest across France, major events are being cancelled around the country.

The biggest one is the Friday and Saturday concerts of French singer Mylène Farmer at the Stade de France, in a northern suburb of Paris. Despite the people camping in front of the venue for days to get the best spot, the concerts are not going ahead.

Marseille was preparing for its Pride march today, after many other big cities had it in previous weeks, but that has also been postponed.

French chain store Fnac was ready for the final night of its “Fnac Live Paris” festival, but that was cancelled, too.

The school districts of Versailles, Paris and Créteil called on school heads to postpone or cancel planned end-of-year school festivities.

We could expect more cancellations as President Macron announced yesterday that “the decision has been taken to cancel several festive events and gatherings in the most sensitive departments”, without specifying which events were involved.

Macron has cancelled his visit to Germany, which had been due to start tomorrow.

On Twitter people have shown both multiple pics and videos of women in Muslim garb carrying stolen loot and people shouting Allahu Akbar.

People have been drug out of their vehicles, numerous cities are burning, at least one library (Marseilles) was torched.

Perhaps spread to Belgium.

It’s really bad. From the reports, as bad or worse than 2005.

But woke librards will no doubt justify it.

Remember, diversity is our strength.

“Cultural enrichment.”

Paris police said 120 people had been arrested in the capital, where officers evacuated the Place de la Concorde. A prefectural decree prohibited “undeclared gatherings around in particular” the Place de la Concorde, the Champs-Élysées, the Tuileries, the Champ-de-Mars and the national assembly from 7pm Friday to 5am Saturday.

Aulnay-sous-Bois mayor Bruno Beschizza issued a decree establishing a citywide curfew of 9pm-5am. Two cities in the Alsace region, Colmar and Mulhouse, established curfews for unaccompanied minors for the next few days.

OK, I just pictured the beret and striped-shirt mimes protesting and thank you. 😂

My BFF from high school is leaving on a flight to Paris this evening for a weeklong writers workshop. I hope and pray she stays safe.

A map of riot locations shows a boatload of cities.

Nalanda library burned in the 1100’s and now another major library. Who would thunk it?

One Twitter video I looked at from a man on a motorcycle has him driving past burnt automobile after burnt automobile after burng automobile down and down the street.

It looks like devolution (societal rot) is in the making. Where ever you look - California, South Africa, France, England, it’s all the same. Once decent, liveable places are now being reduced to hellholes.

French tourism industry suffers cancellations over violent unrest
Days of violent protests across France after the fatal police shooting of a teenager have started to impact the country’s tourism sector, with hotels and restaurants facing cancellations while some have also suffered damage in the unrest.

Since the death of 17-year-old Nahel during a traffic stop in a Paris suburb on Tuesday, “our hotel members have suffered a wave of cancellations of reservations in all the territories affected by the damage and clashes,” said chef Thierry Marx, president of the main association for hotel and catering industry employers.

Marx said Friday he was receiving daily alerts from industry professionals who have suffered “attacks, looting and destruction of their businesses, including some restaurants and cafes”.

“Our establishments are intrinsically hospitality venues, and sometimes even refuges and places of help in crisis situations. They must not suffer the consequences of anger that they have not aroused and we condemn these actions,” he added.

Marx wants the authorities to do “everything” to guarantee the safety of people in the hotel and catering industry in the world’s most popular tourist destination.

The French retail federation (FCD) also called for reinforced police security around stores, said managing director Jacques Creyssel.
