Jurors have reached a unanimous not guilty verdict in the trial of former Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School resource officer Scot Peterson.
Peterson wept as the verdict was read. Not guilty on all counts.
Families of the Parkland victims were seen shaking their heads in disbelief.

Very good point. The man did not commit a crime. He was a warm body filling a position. A bad hire.

I don’t pay a lot of attention to the Court TV cases but happened to notice about 90% of the guilty are declared guilty.
Unlike most of fictional TV “You can’t use the confession, his dna cannot be entered into evidence and the witness is terrified she will be killed so has given up and won’t testify. Case dismissed.”
Courts at all levels have found that policemen are under no obligation to actually protect citizens, especially if their own safety is at risk.

If they threw people into prison for being cowards, there wouldn’t be any room left for the actual criminals. And if they put people away for not doing their jobs... Well... Let’s not go there.
Being a hero may sound easy but when the reality of somebody shooting randomly hits you up close??? I’ve never been in that situation, and hope I never will be, but you won’t know your reaction until it happens.
I’m sure some of the families blame this man for their loss... That’s their prerogative, but in the end he wasn’t responsible... The shooter was.

My friend's daughter Hannah, who was huddled on a classroom floor, listening to her friends get shot in the classroom next door, thinks he was a coward and his actions resulted in more deaths.
