Mayor Adams goes off on woman complaining about rent, compares her to plantation owner

Mayor Eric Adams did not take kindly to one of his constituents wagging her finger at him and criticizing him for the city’s new rent increase rules Wednesday, likening her behavior to that of a plantation owner.

The showdown took place at a community conversation event Adams hosted at Gregorio Luperon High School for Science and Mathematics in Washington Heights.

In footage from the meeting, Adams can be heard asking the woman to stand up after she interrupts him to call out that he “raised the rent.”

Adams’ administration came under fire last week, when the Rent Guidelines Board voted to allow rent hikes of up to 6 percent on the Big Apple’s one million rent-stabilized apartments.

I always wondered how landlords coped with the price ceilings on their properties. Price ceiling don’t work. Price controls, period, don’t work.

Yup.

BTW, how was NYC on all that COVID Hysteria with rent forgiveness?

I’m sick of people getting off scot-free, and thinking they’re entitled to get things for nothing. Note too how she’s now blaming government rather than a private person. Interesting shift - so now we’re used to government being the owner of all things?

This guy sees everything as racial.....as I understand it every promotion he ever got with the NYPD was settled through EEO complaints.

“Rent stabilization” laws are a “taking” by the local government .... prove me wrong.

And that is the same for wages. There should be no minimum wage.

If it weren’t for plantations, the North would have starved and gone naked.

It seems like the city raised her rent.
She’s complaining about it.
The black Mayor is calling her a Plantation Owner and demanding that she bow down and show him sufficient respect.

There’s a lot of political ju-jitsu going on here.

How did he answer her question exactly? He didn’t. He just played the race card.

For them it is always back to “racism” or “slavery” in some form or other. I bet if the Yankees could see what was going to happen in the future they’d been more for Lincoln’s recommendation to send them back to Africa or another way to rid the country of slavery as did England.

If it wasn’t for slaves, the South would have done the same.

What planet are you on??? Drive through Kentucky, Georgia and South Carolina; then drive through Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Illinois and compare land usage with staple crops. Not even close! Show me the evidence that the South was exporting corn, barley, etc to the North. Cotton was 75% of their economy per Wikipedia. The northern blockades during the war were devastating.

Yep. When I started working I made 35 cents an hour. Pumping gas at Pod W's Mobil Oil station. Pumped the gas. Checked the oil. Checked the air in the tires. And washed the windshield.

IIRC, the price of gas was about what I made in an hour.

...one million rent-stabilized apartments.

Wow, I had no idea that there so many landlords getting royally screwed by the government in NYC. Imagine the disrepair of those one million apartments! Everything must be broken.

I love liberal euphemisms, especially "rent-stabilized." Its' right up there with their latest, "gender affirming."

She’s white.

The racist mayor made an obvious racist, hate speech comment but, of course, it’s (d)ifferent.
