Modified from International Classification of Sleep Disorders – Third edition (ICSD-3)5 (A and B) or C satisfies the criteria: A. The presence of one or more of the following The patient complains of sleepiness, nonrestorative sleep, fatigue, or insomnia. The patient wakes with breath holding, gasping, or choking. The bed partner or an observer reports habitual snoring or breathing interruptions in sleep. The patient has hypertension, a mood disorder, cognitive dysfunction, coronary artery disease, stroke, congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, or type 2 diabetes mellitus.

That’s not always true I’ve worn a CPAP machine for over 15 years and never had any problems listed.

It can be caused by people sleeping on their backs with an open mouth which depresses the upper respiratory system and causes excessive snoring.

A lot of people are born with the condition

It’s nothing serious if the machine is worn regularly and is providing the proper air flow
