GOP SENATORS WANT ROBERTS TO TAKE ACTION
The Hill ^ | June 26 | BY ALEXANDER BOLTON

Republican senators are leaning on Chief Justice John Roberts to do something about the Supreme Court’s appearance problem in the wake of reports that conservative Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito accepted luxury vacations from conservative donors.

While Republicans don’t support Supreme Court ethics reform legislation sponsored by Democrats, they think the reports that Thomas and Alito accepted expensive vacations funded by wealthy donors has created a real public relations problem for the court.

These lawmakers want Roberts to take the issue of legislation out of Congress’s hands by issuing a judicial code of ethics or some other updated statement of principles for he and his fellow justices.

“I think it would be helpful for the court to up its game. I don’t want Congress to start micromanaging the court but I think confidence-building would be had if they were more clear on some of this stuff,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.), the top-ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The whole thing is a nothingburger. Supreme Court Justices have long accepted gifts, lucrative teaching gigs for the summer semester in Europe for various law schools, book deals, etc. So long as the person or entity paying them on the side is not a party to a case the SCOTUS is hearing, the Justice has no need to recuse him/herself.

This whole ethics issue with the SCOTUS is just a swamp diversion tactic to cover for Biden. Biden is well liked by the swamp.

F that!

What about the FBI and DOJ deliberately lying to the FISA court about Trump and his staff over the Russia Hoax?

The FISA court was set up to ENSURE their was a separate process to use intelligence and law enforcement to violate AMERICANS civil rights IF national defense was at risk.

They lied to the FISA court to get an illegal warrant.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is responsible for the oversight of the FISA court.

Durham released his report—will Roberts do ANYTHING?

Tackle that first. It is a far bigger danger to let that slide than bogus ethics charges!

Hey Linda — Wake me up when Congress passes laws that prohibit its member from engaging in insider trading.

“What about the FBI and DOJ deliberately lying to the FISA court about Trump and his staff over the Russia Hoax?”

Never mind about real corruption by Democrats and the left.

What’s truly important is that Republicans pull out all the stops to investigate empty allegations against conservatives.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

let's see a list of expense paid congressional junkets (with family & booze) that these whiners have been on while in office

PS: let's see the congressional sexual harassment slush fund recipients. (more closely guarded than the epstein client list?)

It seems we’re at a tipping point with DC corruption. The corpse Diane Feinstein’s staff not letting her retire because they would lose their 6 figure jobs and lobbyist perks is hilarious at a micro level yet maddening at a macro level of what a Clown Show DC is with a retarded man supposedly being President and we’re all just apparently ignoring it.

My vote would be to double their pay (or require high-power wives or big savings accounts), and then end the gifts. As for the past, tough crap, if they didn’t violate the rules in force at the time, which is the case here, then nothing happened.

John Roberts himself should be investigated for his kushy gig in Malta teaching a 1 credit, 6 session “ class” with a take home exam….( Malta being great place to vacation and launder money)….a gig that preceded the critical ruling where he switched his vote to uphold “ Obamacare”

The timing was…curious
