Patton was a consummate “authoritarian leader.” Maybe you would say a sigma leader. Patton’s leadership style involved bold decision-making. He was famous for swearing and demanding strict discipline of his soldiers.
Patton was also demanding of his subordinate commanders. In North Africa and Sicily, Lt. Gen. Patton disliked Maj. Gen. Terry Allen and Brig. Gen. Teddy Roosevelt Jr. Both of the latter had distinguished themselves during WWI, and would go on to distinguish themselves later during WWII in northern France. But Patton, along with Bradley and Eisenhower, relieved those two guys (Allen and Roosevelt) from command in Sicily.
Comparing Trump to Patton, with Trump we have a string of firings of his presidential staff and his cabinet, many of whom he subsequently described as sleazebag losers. But, with Patton, he only fired two (I think). And I’m not aware that Patton called either Allen or Roosevelt sleazebag losers. Rather, Patton described them as fine officers, although not up to the task when serving under him (Patton).
