Lt Gen DeAnna Burt claimed such laws 'could be dangerous' for members of the military
Lt. Gen. DeAnna Burt, deputy chief of space operations, also claimed that such laws affect her hiring and promotion decisions, sometimes leading her to choose a "less qualified" candidate because of a preferred candidate's "personal circumstances."
"Transformational cultural change requires leadership from the top, and we do not have time to wait," Burt told those attending the event. "Since January of this year, more than 400 anti-LGBTQ+ laws have been introduced at the state level. That number is rising and demonstrates a trend that could be dangerous for service members, their families, and the readiness of the force as a whole."

“There is NO EVIDENCE whatsoever that catering to perverts improves “the readiness of the force as a whole.”
Actually, it wrecks unit cohesion.
Add her to the list of those to be cashiered very early in Trump’s 2nd administration.
“it wrecks unit cohesion.”
Unless you have units comprised 100% of weirdo, freaks, homos, and trannies. Imagine our readiness then!
And the armed forces wonder why they are consistently failing to meet recruitment goals. What NORMAL family would send their sons and daughters off to this perverted DOD?
They may be a wee bit of a prancer itself. Talks like one.
The right women would be great.
But can you imagine the cat fights?
WTF?? What happened to a pure merit system that doesn't include "personal circumstances" as a criteria??
I'm sure there were gays in the military when I was in. They just stayed in the closet and did their jobs.
Marx couldn’t have stated it better. Viva la revolución!
“imagine the cat fights”
LOL...they would be absolutely EPIC!! You could make a fortune with pay-per-view.
I always loved the idea of “The All-American First Cavalry Amazon Battalion”. (Thanks, Rush. Miss ya, pal.)
“These boots are made for walkin’
And that’s just what they’ll do
One of these days these boots
are gonna walk
all over
you...
“Boots! Start walkin’...!”
Lt. Gen. DeAnna Burt
What a lardass. We used to have weight standards in the military...used to.
What specific law is troubling you, General?
Sounds like what the democrats TRIED to do to Georgia’s voting reform law.
Not one provision hurt a single minority, and most minorities SUPPORT voter ID laws to be able to vote, but that didn’t stop all the lies.
Joe Biden called it “Jim Eagle”, and Stacy Abrams said it was raciss! The city of Atlanta lost millions of dollars over the All-Star Game getting pulled because MLB believed the lies.
Then there’s the whole Florida “Can’t say gay” lie.
Same $#!+, different day.
Oh, yes! And if they could be split up into divisions with their times of the month synchronized, we could deploy whichever bunch is meanest at the time.
It’s because of people like her that many people are exiting the military, I for instance. I am so glad I retired.
Why should it hire people with known mental problems?
The old WHATEVER IS POSSIBLE IS NECESSARY gambit.
Let’s not give in or agree to her premise.
There is no law, proposed or in effect, where Republicans have made ‘anti-LGBTQ+’ ANYTHING.
The laws simply say just don’t involve CHILDREN with gay sex or gender medicine/surgery. Don’t involve children with sexual talk by teachers or written words in books. It doesn’t even ban books—just don’t let kids have legal access to these books. Adults can read them anytime for all we care.
When they turn 18, they can do whatever they want.
Disagree with her because it is a lie.
There is nothing ‘anti-LGBTQ+’ at all, but rather pro-children and their parents.
It is entirely UNPROFESSIONAL for a General Officer to take a political side and especially to misrepresent the other political side’s endeavors.
UCMJ Article 88 - Contempt Toward Officials
Make her prove any law causes such harm. She can’t, because it is not so.
Then charge her.
When a military member is wearing the uniform and receiving a salary from the Department of Defense, that military member has essentially signed away his First Amendment rights granted by the Constitution. The exact words of the Uniform Code of Military Justice Article 88 - Contempt Toward Public Officials states: “Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”
