It's time to act adult. I've originated and handled classified docs. In my day, there were databases or lists of the docs, where they were stored, and who checked out/returned them and when.

DJT can't just wave his hand and say "They're unclassifed". At a minimum, he'd need to make sure that info gets out and is reflected in all those databases. The docs all get stamped as such. Otherwise, if someone were to come across them in a storage locker (like Bidet), how the hell do they know if they're just declassified or there because of some malicious intent? Just on DJTs word? Sorry, it doesn't work that way.

Now, if it's true that 99% of what he had were really just the empty file folders saying "SECRET" or "NOFORN" that he kept because they were cool, then yeah, the whole thing is stupid. If he really kept classified stuff and didn't ensure it was declassified per all the bureaucratic BS, then it's on him.
