Four dead, including family members of NRA exec, in crash through restricted airspace that led to sonic boom from F-16 fighter jets

A sonic boom was heard across the Washington, DC, area Sunday afternoon when military jets raced after an unresponsive private plane that crossed into restricted airspace and later crashed, killing all four people onboard.

The deafening boom rang out when two F-16 fighter jets were scrambled from Joint Base Andrews in Maryland to investigate the aircraft that was not responding to radio transmissions shortly after 3 p.m., according to the Department of Defense.

Residents around the capital and surrounding communities were left bewildered until more information came out.

The F-16s were deployed after the private Cessna flew into restricted airspace over the capital before it crashed in southwest Virginia.

The fighter jets saw that the pilot of the plane appeared to have passed out, a US official told ABC News.

Rescuers were able to reach the site of the plane crash hours later on foot in a rural part of Shenandoah Valley, and no survivors were found, according to police.

The aircraft departed Elizabethton Municipal Airport in Elizabethton, Tennessee, heading for Long Island MacArthur Airport in New York, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

It had reached the New York area before making a nearly 180-degree turn and flying toward Virginia, according to the flight-tracking website Flight Aware.

Put me on the conspiracy list, this appears like sending a message to me.

Did the F-16 shoot it down? Probably yes.

Rapid cabin de pressurization in the flight levels while plane was on autopilot. Pilots and passengers would be incapacitated in less than a minute. Plane flew until it ran out of fuel and then crashed (or it was shot down by the F-16s to make sure it did not crash in a densely populated area.). Same thing that happened to golfer Payne Stuart’s Lear 35 a couple decades ago. Rare, but it happens. The 180 is kind of strange though and harder to explain unless it had an emergency auto land system installed.

I also thought it might be sending a message. Anything seems possible these days.

Maybe these pilots had itchy pickle button fingers. They missed out on the sitting duck Chinese spy balloon so a civilian aircraft was the next best option. Somebody gave the order, WHO?????

I don’t recall if Stuart’s plane was sot down, but I do recall it was flying for quite a while before the decision was made. I recall lots of “discussions” taking place. This story “smells” like a Biden!!!

The weird thing is it went all the way to the intended destination and then turned back south. Would that be autopilot being engaged and then auto shutting off once the intended destination is reached? Why would it turn back south?

Did the F-16 shoot it down? Probably yes.

The Air Force claims that they didn't. Radar tracks of the airplane show it entering a steep dive just before it hit the mountain.

Stuart's plane was over a remote, unpopulated area when it ran out of fuel so the escorting F-16s just let it crash on it's own.

The Citation in this crash was heading for a densely populated area so it may actually have been shot down.

I thought they already said they didn't shoot it down.

Citation Jet Crashes In Virginia After Supersonic Intercept By F-16s (Updated)

Official NORAD statement:

TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. – In coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration, NORAD F-16 fighter aircraft responded to an unresponsive Cessna 560 Citation V aircraft over Washington, D.C., and northern Virginia on June 4, 2023.

The NORAD aircraft were authorized to travel at supersonic speeds and a sonic boom may have been heard by residents of the region.

During this event, the NORAD aircraft also used flares – which may have been visible to the public – in an attempt to draw attention from the pilot. Flares are employed with highest regard for safety of the intercepted aircraft and people on the ground. Flares burn out quickly and completely and there is no danger to the people on the ground when dispensed.

The civilian aircraft was intercepted at approximately 3:20 p.m. Eastern Time. The pilot was unresponsive and the Cessna subsequently crashed near the George Washington National Forest, Virginia. NORAD attempted to establish contact with the pilot until the aircraft crashed.

It's a cabin pressure issue. At 30,000 ft, if the plane depressurizes the low partial pressure of oxygen gives you about 90 seconds before becoming unconscious.

The pilots have emergency oxygen masks in cockpit that they put on immediately if there is a depression. They then put the plane into a rapid descent to get below 10,000 feet as soon as they can.

People are all shook up by a sonic boom.

When we were kids, we were under an Air Force flight path. The whole house shook with sonic booms every day. We barely noticed.

I’m believing this story about like the story of the moon being made of swiss cheese.

Meanwhile the CCP sends spy balloons that are treated with hospitality, as if they had people in them.

This guy just got whacked, just like the young man in Georgia who got blown to kingdom come in a traffic accident back when Kemp and Raffensperger were doing what they did... Except his family were in the line of fire too.

Had not heard that. Then it probably just ran out of fuel.
