Germany's defense minister said Friday his country will look into a report that former German air force fighter plane pilots have been training pilots for the Chinese military.

News magazine Der Spiegel and public broadcaster ZDF reported Friday that “at least a handful” of former German air force officers are working as trainers in China, and that in several cases they were apparently paid through companies in the Seychelles. They said that such training has been going on for years, that several pilots didn't respond to requests for comment or were unreachable, and that one rejected the allegations.

Its probably the same training concept you see in South Africa and New Zealand....training on passenger/cargo planes or helicopters. If so, there’s nothing illegal about it.

>>“Every individual case must be examined,” he said. “We will do that thoroughly and all transgressions will be punished, that is completely clear, though it is clear that servicepeople can take on other jobs after their service ends, but within the bounds of our laws and within the bounds of their obligations.”

It’s not clear that they have done anything illegal.

China is our enemy. To assume the worst is the best bet.

Tactics are universal.

If the Chinese currently employ Soviet tactics in the battle space - are willing to change to NATO tactics (using Soviet or Soviet copied equipment), defeating them to control the air would be much tougher.

LOL, Yes, helping Taiwan and South Korea, Ukraine, the Philippines etc is different than helping our enemies.

Around 12k flights a day move across China...there’s simply no way they can certify and fill pilot-slots without these courses in western countries.

If you look around the US...there’s probably a dozen companies that provide regular pilot training to Chinese airline pilots. Is anyone getting excited about these?

They should be. Nobody was concerned about jihadis getting pilot training prior to 9/11.

China is our enemy.

If Red China is our enemy, why do we get everything we consume and use, including medicine and medical supplies from Red China?

Now THAT is the question of the half century.
