I suggested in a Friday morning article that now that Ron DeSantis has officially announced his 2024 White House run, he’ll do battle with Donald Trump armed with facts, while Trump will continue his personal attacks.
This article serves as a perfect example. Trump issued a statement on Thursday under the headline:

DACA is the acronym for the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals program established by the Obama Administration — which the Democrats have pushed from the beginning, believing that an overwhelming number of illegal aliens, if ultimately given the right to vote, will vote Democrat.
Anyway, Trump staffer Liz Harrington tweeted out Trump’s statement, parroting his claim.

Just one problem: The claim is, according to House Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy, “demonstrably false.”
This is demonstrably false. I will have more to say about this later – but suffice it to say, the border/immigration legislation failure of 2018 was decidedly reflective of the Trump admin siding with Paul Ryan and GOP squishes while @RonDeSantis sided with conservatives. Fact.

Trump is now desperately even trying to claim that Mario Coumo did a better job managing the COVID response in NY than DeSantis did in Florida. Yes, he did, if you haven’t heard yet.
How obviously insane is that?
Trump is also running a huge new ad campaign trying to claim that DeSantis wants to raise taxes across America by 23%, across the board.
This is also insane, since he’s referring to DeSantis’ plan to REPLACE all other income and sales tax with a flat tax rate of 23%, not an additional 23%.
Are Trump supporters willing to accept and defend completely bogus charges like this, and try to act like they are legitimate, due to their devotion to Trump?
Or will they finally call a spade a spade.

I am honestly a Trump supporter and as of today, I intend to votes for Trump in the primary and hopefully in the general election. But every day these attacks on DeSantis is forcing me to reconsider. Trump’s slapping himself on the back for his “warp-speed” vaccine that I think killed by brother is also making me reconsider. Also, I ask myself, if Trump is so far ahead of everyone else in the polls; why is so much effort spend attacking other demonstrably conservatives like DeSantis instead of the real enemies. It doesn’t make sense..

Honestly i hate this. These two will split the GOP vote enough to maybe hand 2024 to the Dems and then in 2028 enough MAGA voters will just bow out all together. Really wish Ron would have waited. We have no bench and it’s going to take more than 4yrs to turn this country around. I can’t see how this is good for any of us.
There’s one thing the Dems can always count on is the GOP feeding on each other.
DeSantis is standing his ground, speaking truth and projecting strength. I doubt Trump expected that. He just wants a political food fight and DeSantis isn’t going to give him that.

I love what Ron has done in Florida. But Desantis is in a no win situation here. If he wins the primary at least 15mil MAGA voters will sit out the election and Ron has no demo he can pick that much up from. Trump isn’t perfect but he’s our only viable option this cycle.

If there are 15 million weak and stupid GOP voters now then they will be 15 million weak and stupid GOP voters later. That’s not on DeSantis or anybody else. That’s on those losers.
